All in attendance for a dinner meeting with president Obama before he took office. The post-meeting/dinner report in The New Yorker Magazine holds the following quotes told by the glowing participants of their time with President Obama:
Richard Lowry:“the only presidential candidate from either party about whom there is a palpable excitement”.
Charles Krauthammer: “Obama would be a president with the political intelligence of a Bill Clinton harnessed to the steely self-discipline of a Vladimir Putin”, who would “bestride the political stage as largely as did Reagan.”
Bill Kristol:“I look forward to Obama’s inauguration with a surprising degree of hope and good cheer.”
Larry Kudlow: “[Obama] loves to deal with both sides of the issue.” “He revels in the back and forth. And he wants to keep the dialogue going with conservatives.”
Indeed, it sounds like a joyful political love-fest amid the smitten beltway punditry in 2009.
So is it really a surprise to read or hear their current, and collective, opinion of the horribly unwashed pro-America vulgarian Trump?

I pointed this out to some embarrassingly “tingle up the leg” Krauthammer fan ( so committed a fan he referred to him as “Charles”) here on FR about 3 years ago. I quoted CK to the effect that he wasn’t sure Obambi was quite ready for 2008-9, but certainly would be for the election after that. The Charles fan was sure this wasn’t true, was mightily offended, but never responded back

For these guys it’s all about the Party. Lucky thing they don’t have the guns and billy clubs and famine plans that “Party” fans in other countries had generations ago.
Maybe that works too, in hindsight.
How did these guys come up with such glowing descriptions of Obama and which are so utterly divorced from reality?

Because they actually believe it.
And nearly all of them are "FOX News contributors".
He obviously is looking forward to a Hillary Clinton inauguration with the same hope and good cheer. Kristol knows very well that the purpose of his magical third party candidate is to siphon off enough votes from Trump to elect Hillary. I certainly wish he would just leave the party officially and join the Democrats. Good riddance.

Once safely reelected, O’Reilly stopped with the Brilliance, and stopped with the fantasy that Obama was too smart to do anything other than govern from the Center.

Krauthammer should be confronted with that quote on a daily basis for the rest of his life.
I’d like to plant some stolen stuff in their suitcase and send them to Singapore. Especially Kristol.
It’s about getting and keeping power, that’s what these people think they have.
