Venezuela is running out .. everything. Food, medicine, electricity, toilet paper, condoms

Venezuela is running out of just about everything. Food, medicine, electricity, toilet paper, condoms -- you name it. ( Full title ).

And over the weekend at least two large international airlines -- Lufthansa and LATAM -- said they will suspend service to Venezuela in the coming months due to the economic crisis.

The widespread scarcities and fleeing businesses reflect a country in crisis.

"There's a shortage of everything at some level," says Ricardo Cusanno, vice president of Venezuela's Chamber of Commerce. Cusanno says 85% of companies in Venezuela have halted production to some extent.

Venezuela's economy is spiraling into extreme recession. It is ironic given that the country sits on the world's largest proven oil reserves of oil. However Venezuela hasn't cut back from expensive government spending even as oil prices have lost half its value in the past two years.

...

Rolling blackouts in Venezuela.

...

A health care crisis.

Venezuela lacks roughly 80% of the basic medical supplies needed to treat its population, according to the Pharmaceutical Federation of Venezuela. People are dying in hospitals for lack of sufficient medicines and equipment.

Wonder if CNN will take responsibility for their share of this disaster. After all it was their love affair with Socialism, celebrity fools and Hugo Chavez that have helped destroy not only a country but a people.
Yeah, the media never takes responsibility for anything including their pathetic sycophancy for all things left of center.

When I was a child, we lived in Yugoslavia (Serbia) in 1980-81, after the death of Tito. It was similar to what is going on in Venezuela. We were the ‘rich’ family because we had the only car in the village. We would bring a suitcase full of things like toilet paper. We had electricity (and thus TV) for a few hours in the afternoon - enough for a showing of Bugs Bunny subtitled with propaganda and the government news. We would bring basic medical supplies (bandaids and gauze) and my mom would dress the wounds in the village and help as she could because medical care was an hour away if you could get in. It was an interesting experience, one that made me a conservative.

Now is the time for Obama to show his socialist credentials and go to Venezuela and help them pick rutabagas.

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!

Come on, comrade! Get your hands dirty!

Yugoslavia was somewhat fortunate because it had a market economy.

One of the few things Tito did right after breaking with the Soviet Union was to abandon rigid central planning.

They’ve done just the opposite in Venezuela.

“Extreme Recession” - liberal euphemism for liberal-run depression.

No worries. The remittance payments coming from their increasing ILLEGAL population living in the U.S. will keep them afloat.

Yet the results were still much the same. It was bad and made a distinct impression. My parents had visited in the summer for a few years before we moved but for me, as a child, I will never forget how different it was than here in the US.

So many Venezuelans are in south FL with broken hearts. They had the good sense to get out. Now they wonder where to go next if hillary is elected.

The offer was withdrawn last year because of a lack of interest......The lack of interest is because the $10 billion would come in VZ money. You would have nice contract you are beholden to (or a 40 mile long convoy of semi trucks stuffed to the gills with worthless paper) and nobody would cash it for in the world.

The sheeple will tolerate a lot. Hopefully that would not happen in the US. Even in a democracy the people need to revolt if necessary.

The right people just haven't been in charge of socialism yet.

Socialist successes: 0

Socialist failures: 586 587

“Chavez and Maduro were supported and chosen by a majority of Venezuelans.
The people are just paying for their corrupted culture and love of collectivism.”

The problem we face is the lack of basic intellect in our citizens today. Just look at these “man/woman on the street” interviews on TV. I am left with the impression that these people find it a challenge to take a crap and tie their shoes each morning. And so we’re not a whole lot better off than the good folks in Venezuela. The idea that anyone above room temperature could elect either Hillary or Bernie (and it isn’t that they’re Democrats) defies all reason.

The people will be allowed to starve and any available food will be routed to the ruling class and their guard dog military.

Do you know what the difference is between North Korea and Venezuela ?

There are levels of stupidity.

But progressive level stupidity defines the bottom.

And the daughter of Hugo Chavez is a billionaire (per Forbes magazine). Same as the daughter of Yasir Arafat, and the Castro brothers (Raul & Fidel). The “leaders of the people” are just like the Clintons (greedy narcissists).
