Ancestory.com lists that last name as Hindu, maybe there are exceptions.

However, this psychotic murderer was not an Indian-American, as the posted article from SFGate claims. He was granted a green card a couple years ago.
The murderer held a Masters in aeronautical engineering from Stanford and a PhD in engineering from UCLA. He made a blog post in March claiming that Klug (the professor he murdered) had stolen code from him and given it to another student.
My guess is that this guy was psychotic.

Very true. All the Indian Muslimes went into Pakistan when it was formed out of Indian territory. Bangladesh was originally East Pakistan. Both were set up as places for all the Muslimes on the Indian Subcontinent to go.
