GOP aghast as Trump doubles down (hand-wringing "leaders")

“If somebody in Washington is holding their breath, waiting to give their endorsement on an apology, they’re going to be waiting a long time,” he said. “There are so many people in this country who are just sick and tired of our elected officials being apologetic for everything.”

When Trump spoke to the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference last month, it sparked hope among Washington Republicans of a long-awaited pivot to the general election and a more presidential demeanor.

Those hopes, however, were dashed by Trump’s assertion last week that U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is presiding over civil suits against Trump University, has “an inherent conflict of interest” because of Trump’s plan to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Curiel was born in Indiana to Mexican immigrants.

“I don’t think anyone is working on a strategy of how to engage Latino voters, and from what I see there is no serious analysis or assessment of the impact Mr. Trump’s comments are having on the Latino electorate,” Alfonso Aguilar, president of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, said of his “limited contact” with Trump’s advisers.

“This is not rocket science. Just not talking is not that difficult, but he doubles down and triples down on these comments,” he said.

To the contrary...Trump is providing a much needed awakening to the weak kneed, spineless Republicans. I am much more optimistic that a Trump Presidency, though probably only one term and I’m sure full of surprises, is opening the eyes of how squishy and sissy (trying to keep it clean here) we’ve become. He has a spine and fights...he wants to build a wall...he hates PC...I’m good with four years of just that. Heck...its more progress than in the last 25-30 years.

Was listening to Michael Medved rant about this yesterday.
Staggering how many don’t grasp, and how Trump can’t quite articulate, that the judge is aligned with a sociopolitical group bent on destroying Trump. It’s not that the judge’s parents are from Mexico, it’s that the judge is a formal member of an avowed racist organization seeking secession of the southwestern US and destruction of anyone hindering illegal immigration.

This kind of stuff is going to dog Trump from now until he is defeated or leaves office. His corporations and trusts may survive, but personally, he’ll be lucky to have two nickels to rub together when all is said and done.

That you, Mitt?

I was referring to frivolous litigation against his various business interests. Nothing more, nothing less.

You think he hasn’t dealt with frivolous litigation before?

TRUMP GETS IT. DON'T EVER APOLOGIZE TO THESE BASTARDS If you do you admit you're wrong and they're right. Trump is right.

On the other hand, those that admire men like Mitt Romney

People admire Mitt Romney? Who knew? I don't know anyone who doesn't loath him.

FNC was reporting yesterday that, in a conference call, Trump instructed campaign staffers to "double down" on "attacking" the judge.

My question: who provided this information to the media (if it's true)?

And, will we soon be entertained by inside info and strategy from the Clinton campaign?

Trump is at war with PC "gotcha" journalism, which has utterly emasculated the Republican Party over the past few decade. It really has been pathetic to see Republican leaders bowing and scraping, apologizing for imagined slights and wringing their hands while the Democrats ran rough-shod all over them. Trump aims to put an end to this nonsense. Apparently he's going to have to do this singlehandedly as fellow Republicans head to the fainting couches.

It's like the entire Republican Party has Stockholm Syndrome.

Exactly why I dropped my charter membership to Rush 24/7. He betrayed all of us supporting him through the Sandra Fluke controversy by apologizing.

Okay, Trump, you have sewed up the Nom, now it’s time to start apologizing and whimpering about being Not-Left.

The Republican establishment wants Trump to morph into Jeb Bush... If Jeb was what the people wanted he would have been the nominee...but he wasn’t. What part of that don’t the elites understand?

it is the NYC line media. The story was universal. Daytime TV with the bon bon do nothing “wife” circle is fed a torrent of anti-trump sentiment. The view is essentially a communist propaganda show. (real dumb of those advertisers)

They don't understand any of it. They're so used to getting what they want through privilege, network, and position, that they can't understand merit. They are so convinced that they're superior to the rest of us that they can't conceive of the notion that we're rejecting them wholesale.

Take Romney. How much of his career do you think would have occurred if his name were John Smith and his family were typical middle class given the exact same level of talent that he has now? Maybe some, but I doubt all.

Where did I say that? But since you ask, no, I do not think Trump has ever been targeted like he will be until he loses or leaves office. To think or hope otherwise is naive.

BINGO!

Trump *is* a genius. He comes across as an uneducated bumpkin, having his opponents underestimating him, then WHAM!, blindsides them with an attack they don’t know how to effectively counter, then while they’re stumbling around in a daze yelling “racist homophobe misogynist idiot demagogue” he smacks them to the ground WITH THE VERY ATTACK THEY USE THEMSELVES!

You’ve never seen a leftist sincerely apologize for anything. They ALWAYS double down, because the odds are stacked in their favor by the MSM.

Trump OWNS them, lock, stock, and barrel.

I’m wondering if the judge’s parents were/are illegals. I’m wondering if the judge is an anchor baby. We’ll find out!

I’m sure Trump already knows something about the judge. Maybe a lot.

The judge belongs to a group that provides scholarships to the illegals that Trump would deport. Is this a conflict?

The judge belongs to a racist organization called "La Raza". If an organization called "The Race" is not inherently racist, I'm not sure what is. Trump is for equality. Is this a conflict?

The clowns in congress should be impeaching this judge, not excoriating Trump.

‘Think back. Trump always carefully thinks through issues that only seem like off the cuff remarks.”

Trump’s critics see a fool, while he is playing three dimensional chess right in front of their faces.
