GOP aghast as Trump doubles down (hand-wringing "leaders")

“If somebody in Washington is holding their breath, waiting to give their endorsement on an apology, they’re going to be waiting a long time,” he said. “There are so many people in this country who are just sick and tired of our elected officials being apologetic for everything.”

When Trump spoke to the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference last month, it sparked hope among Washington Republicans of a long-awaited pivot to the general election and a more presidential demeanor.

Those hopes, however, were dashed by Trump’s assertion last week that U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is presiding over civil suits against Trump University, has “an inherent conflict of interest” because of Trump’s plan to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Curiel was born in Indiana to Mexican immigrants.

“I don’t think anyone is working on a strategy of how to engage Latino voters, and from what I see there is no serious analysis or assessment of the impact Mr. Trump’s comments are having on the Latino electorate,” Alfonso Aguilar, president of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, said of his “limited contact” with Trump’s advisers.

“This is not rocket science. Just not talking is not that difficult, but he doubles down and triples down on these comments,” he said.

Time for the Republican Party to hike up their skirts and find their “Safe Place” to hide while someone cleans up their damn mess.

through the Sandra Fluke controversy by apologizing.

Bad move. Fluck doesn't have an honest bone in her body. (pause here while jokes with bone in her body as considered) The woman is your classic social justice warrior. Out to cause whatever trouble she can.

It’s not just leaders; Trump was wrong to inject the ethnic heritage of an American citizen into the debate.

I hope he does too...but I don’t think he’ll want to. I think if he is elected, he will shake it up like we’ve never seen, but will want to move on after 4 years. Hopefully, during those four years of fun and excitement, a new breed of R’s with backbones emerge and takes it from there.

Ah, No....if you would read any of his books, when the housing market crashed... Mr. Trump owed 9.2 BILLION, yes BILLION, not Million, to 99 banks. He now owns 200 companies and employs thousands. He has an IQ of 157, the highest any other POTUS ever had was just over 130....HEH HEH

WRONG. If there was bias, and form the guy's history it appears there is, then Trump has EVERY RIGHT to bring up ethnic heritage as a source of bias.

Whenever it seems like Trump can’t quite articulate something, I ask myself “what if he had?”.

If he had used the PC approach of accusing the judge of a conflict of interest because of his La Raza Lawyers membership, it would have been dismissed as a politically motivated nothing burger and forgotten.

As it is, Trump has dozens of pundits repeatedly making his point for him on prime time TV. One by one, they invite him on their shows, and condescendingly council him on how he should have articulated his perfectly valid point about the judge’s conflict of interest.

Trump doubles down and acts like he is too dense or stubborn to be PC, which forces the pundit to keep trying to explain how his valid argument should have been stated.

The whole time Trump is saying “please Brer Fox! Don’t throw me in that briar patch!”

The briar patch is exactly where he wants to be thrown. He’s used this tactic a hundred times and they still have no idea they are being used like pawns.

After the dust settles, all anyone will remember is that everyone agrees the Judge should recuse himself.

Bull. NOTHING he does about this douchebag judge is going to change anyone's mind The absolute last thing he should do is apologize. You need to read the treatise on social justice warriors to begin to understand what's going on here.
