Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt suggests the Republican Party should change the rules ahead of the GOP National Convention so presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump can be replaced.
“It’s like ignoring stage-four cancer. You can’t do it, you gotta go attack it,” Hewitt says. “And right now the Republican Party is facing — the plane is headed towards the mountain after the last 72 hours.”
“I wanna support the nominee of the party, but I think the party ought to change the nominee. Because we’re going to get killed with this nominee,” he added.

I’ve heard Hugh Hewitt is more liberal than many on talk radio. I’ve seldom heard him so don’t know. But also question why he’s wanting to do this. The nomination is settled.

The Populists won it with votes. Get over yourself. You have to win with actual votes. If there’s something to do, it is make yourself more appealing and sell better so you can attract more votes next time. Pissing and moaning at this point just shows you are a uniparty machine hack.

If the establishmentarians don’t want Trump, let them form their own party; they’re going to do it anyway. It’ll be like 1980 and not 1992, because Trump supporters support Trump, while in ‘92 there really weren’t GHWB supporters, just people who were afraid of a couple who would destroy everything Reagan had built.

I like it when I see exasperated people (often liberals, strangely) who try desperately to warn me and insist that a Trump nomination will destroy the GOP.
Then I look at a guy like Hugh Hewitt, and I say “I’m counting on it.”
