Annoyed at federal judge Gonzalo P. Curiel's persistent rulings against him in the Trump University case (brought by a law firm that has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for speeches by Bill and Hillary), Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said that maybe it's because the judge is a second-generation Mexican immigrant.

Of course that's the case.
What is NOT the case is the identity, agenda, and under-the-radar influence of La Raza TOTALLY EXPOSED. Or Judge Curiel's affiliation with them and YUGE conflict of interest.
By Trump failing to make that case he's blown a great opportunity to educate the uninitiated and turn the tables on the media as well as GOPe backstabbers.
Many folks are already disappointed that Trump didn't do a much better job of dispatching Judge Curiel by easily exposing his La Raza and Dem connections instead of taking on unnecessary shrapnel from Newt, Ryan, and idiots like Krauthammer.
I have heard on every network pundits, reporters, and anchors all say that Trump makes racist remarks. Funny thing, they never say the exact quote, in context, that is the supposed proof of his bigotry. Here’s the problem. I see this, as well as all of us here, but the voting public as a whole isn’t that bright. 0bama did win two terms, after all. The constant drumbeat of how Trump, and therefore all conservatives, are racist is bound to have an effect. People naturally abhor blatant racism, and therefore will tend to shun the person or group that is being presented to them by all sectors of the media as a group of racist woman haters. This is not a “the sky is falling” or “woe is me” kind of post. I’m simply acknowledging reality.
As for the media calling Trump a racist - heck, I'd be suspicious of Trump if he wasn't getting called a racist at least every other week.

Dear Ann, Good one young lady. Lock your doors at night, and stay away from the establishment.
.... Heck ....No matter who the nominee would have been .... they would have still called him or her a Racist and Yup .... even Rubio or Cruz.
... It's basically all they have when they know they are on the wrong side of all of the important issues .... so .... they use the sexist racist card to appeal to their base. And keep the sycophantic media on course and to keep the narrative alive.
Those of us who are older and wiser have discovered that, like Santa Claus, there is no such thing. It is merely a mythical entity that, so goes the myth, brings us conservative principles including national defense, rule of law, and balanced budget. In fact all we see are a bunch of fat jolly old men shaking with outrage while they shake down their donors for more loot to stuff in their own stockings and laugh a jolly ho ho ho at the thought of them delivering on a promise other than raiding the hootch locker at the bottom of the congressional chimney.
Or maybe Manafort has convinced him that there is an ace in the hole which can be played to a greater upset.
It does seem un-Donald of Donald to just ignore the copious smoke, when he’s set on fighting fire.
