My prediction: The FBI considered Mateen an “asset,” one of their CI’s used to ferret out the “radicals” at the mosque.
They thought they were playing him, but he played them.
Which would explain why they didn’t follow up the gun store owner’s call about the armor vest sale etc.

And they did report it.....supposedly
But that said..after reporting it to the FBI...why did the FBI not look at the video? I'm sure the gun shop had video...
Mateen was known to the FBI...
It's hard to known what is what...these days.
If the gun shop calls it in, you have to take some action. It shouldn’t matter what the relationship was up until then.
