Waiting on a routine flight from Sacramento back to Santa Barbara, Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., discovered he was a terrorist. Or at least that’s what the FBI thought.
McClintock was clearly more of a frequent flyer than radical extremist. But a classic case of mistaken identity, not ties to terrorism, landed him on the FBI’s no-fly list.
A well-known state senator at the time, McClintock was left stranded at the Sacramento International Airport about 10 years ago. He couldn’t fly home under his own name.

HUH? Tom is from Kalifornia.
Your point? The Senator lives in Santa Barbara but works in Sacramento.

Maybe you should have read the first line of the article, which said he was flying "back to Santa Barbara".
I did read the OP. I was taking issue with the couldn’t return home. Sac to SB isn’t that much of a drive. Fly no, but drive was within his means.
BTW he is not the only pol that has been on the NF list.
Tom is a good guy, I wish he had been elected governor instead of Arnold in the recall election.

In the 2003 recall, McClintock finished 3rd behind Arnold, and Bustanente.
I posit a drive from Sac to SB to be about 5 hours.

387 mi. Google says 6 hours. Using my father’s “average 50 mph” rule, 7-1/2 hours.
More importantly there are choke points to get over the mountains between Sac and SB. Those take a long time to traverse.
EVERY person in Congress should be on a terrorist watch list.
This is the list that they are using to block people from buying guns.
LOL I lived in Kalifornia for 22 years and have driven the entire length many times. Sac to SB is 400 miles.
