Drudge Poll: Donald Trump Should Pick Newt Gingrich For VP
The Daily Caller ^ | July 5, 2016 | Alex Pappas

Posted on 07/05/2016 6:02:44 PM PDT by monkapotamus

Donald Trump should make former House Speaker Newt Gingrich his running mate, according a survey of Drudge Report readers on the news aggregator’s website.

There are six options on Drudge’s “Who Should Be Trump’s VP” poll, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, Gingrich, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions.

As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 225,000 votes had been counted and Gingrich was in the lead with about 40 percent...

Trump is a known reader of the Drudge Report and regularly mentions the site’s polls, boasting of winning them after Republican primary debates.

As The Daily Caller reported in a recent analysis of potential running mates, Gingrich seems to be openly campaigning for the job, routinely speaking positively of Trump on cable news. He has experience running for the White House and matches Trump’s desired trait of a running mate who knows how to get legislation passed. He is reportedly planning to campaign with Trump this week...

I’d like to see Newt as Chief of Staff, and am leaning toward Joni Ernst as VP. She would bring in women, of course, but she seems smart and strong. However I need to read more about her.

One thing is Trump is smart, and would weigh all factors before choosing anyone. He didn’t get where he is by surrounding himself with the wrong people.

Honestly, I don’t know who I want. I know who I DON’T want.

I know we desperately need to win the election, and I’m willing to compromise a great deal to do that. But that’s only because once the election is over, the VP is largely a ceremonial position.

There’s a long way to go, and more names will emerge.

But right now, if I had to choose, I would say Marsha Blackburn. She would close the gender gap, and she is articulate, capable, and telegenic.

My second choice would be (hold your nose) John Kasich. As loathsome as some of his positions are, if he could deliver Ohio and one other Rust Belt state, that would be awesome. He would debate well enough, and once elected, you would basically never hear from him again. So I’m not worried about some of his positions - they wouldn’t matter a whit.

But I am not not locked in to anyone right now.

I really think if Cheney was in charge,(not Bush) he would have done it right and destroyed the terrorist.

Newt is super smart, has humor and can eviscerate the opposition with a few words. But I also like gov. Abbot and gov.Rick Scott.

Trump will win because of Trump. He needs someone like Newt who will create whiplash in the first 100 days. Trump/Newt ticket, if Newt is VP and if they win, will start immediately after the acceptance speech in November to turn our country back in the right direction. These 2 men do not play when it comes to getting results. That is why the liberal press is concerned about a Trump/Newt ticket.

Romney lost multiple states which he supposedly should have won.

Romney couldn't even help himself in MA or MI or CA, etc.

I only mention Cheney is because he was too old to be POTUS after Bush. I love Sessions and wouldn’t it be great if he took McConnell’s place? YES it would and you know it.

I want a VP young enough to be the next POTUS,(8 years) after President Trump.

What did Romney or Ryan bring to their own ticket in 2012? Nothing. They lost both of their home states. Trump needs someone who can get things done day 1. Newt for VP sounds like the best choice.

If Trump wins WI in the general, after Ryan lost it in 2012, Ryan will probably have to step down as Speaker.

Newt is a brilliant guy. But it would be like Palin picking McCain.

Bingo! Must. Win. Election. Seduce the LoFos. Joni Ernst.

I love Sessions and I love Cheney. I wish Cheney was POTUS after Bush but his age prevented it. Sessions needs to take
Mitch McConnell’s place.

That’s fine but Joni and Bob Corker cannot be serious candidates. If not Sessions, Newt.

Trump is going to win this election. Because of Trump. His VP needs to be someone who can make mincemeat of the lying liberal press, who knows how to deliver a promise as in Contract with America and Make America Great Again.

Trump will win states on his own. There is no politician out there who can help Trump win any state that he is already going to win.

I agree with your premise. In full. Well, almost. Newt is so yesterdecade.

Trump can get more help winning LoFos or keeping them home (meaning taking them away from Hillary). Forget ideology. Forget the idea of a VP of substance. LoFos don’t care for anything of substance.

Fresh face. Veteran. Woman. Pretty. And, as you say, able to deal with the MSM, as she did with her boots remark. Forget about delivering a Contract . . . no VP gets to do that. A VP has to help Trump win this election, because even though you think it’s a dead certainty, he needs a huge margin of victory to overcome the certainty of fraud.

PC pick? What’s the downside to that if it helps put a win on the board. The entire fabric of the Dems has been PC picks for three election cycles.

Newt friggin Gingrich??? Seriously? Hey Trump, why don’t you just drop out of the race? Newt would be poison for the ticket.

I would like to see Newt in President Trump’s cabinet but not VP. He helped push NAFTA, big mistake, which will hurt Trump’s economic platform.

Ok, here is the problem with Newt.

He is the smartest guy in the room.
Ergo, he should pick the right side of the equation to fight against...but...

Sometimes for political opportunism he goes not.

That means he has an unpredictable selfish streak which I do not like.

He and Pelosi? He and Clinton? Remember those pics? Recall he attacked Trump last week?

You do not understand radical Islamist terrorists. There are 1.6 Billion Muslims spread out in over 50 countries. If just 1% of them are radical, that is 16,000,000 million radicals. If you invade 1 Muslim country, the 16 million radicals from over 50 countries start terrorism all over the world.

Cheney/Bush made the blunder of invading Muslim countries. Now we have unlimited supply of terrorists, operating in all corners of the world.

The best policy is to let them fight among themselves. Lat the shia and sunni kill each other.
