Donald J. Trump on Wednesday offered a defiant defense of his campaigns decision to publish an image widely viewed as anti-Semitic saying he regretted deleting it and vigorously reaffirmed his praise of Saddam Hussein, the murderous Iraqi dictator.
In the span of 30 minutes, an often-shouting Mr. Trump breathed new life into a controversy that was sparked on Saturday by his posting of an image on his Twitter account of a six-pointed star next to a picture of Hillary Clinton, with money seeming to rain down in the background. The image was quickly, and broadly, criticized for invoking stereotypes of Jews. Mr. Trump deleted it two hours later, and replaced the star image with a circle.
You shouldnt have taken it down, Mr. Trump recalled telling one of his campaign workers. I said, Too bad, you should have left it up. I would have rather defended it.
Thats just a star, Mr. Trump said repeatedly.
It was a striking display of self-sabotage from a presumptive presidential nominee and underscored the limitations of Mr. Trumps scattershot approach during the Republican primaries not to mention how difficult he often makes it for his campaign team to control him.
The rally in Cincinnati had been promoted by Mr. Trumps team for two days as a chance for him to give a tryout to a potential running mate, former Speaker Newt Gingrich. Periodically, beginning midway through Mr. Trumps speech, the crowd chanted Mr. Gingrichs name, but Mr. Trump did not heed its wishes.
Mr. Trump had not discussed the Twitter message at length until Wednesday night, at his rally in Cincinnati, and his remarks seemed to clash with those of his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, an Orthodox Jew

Good thing he didn’t choose a 5-pointed star. Then they would have said it was an upside-down pentagram and he was a secret satan worshiper.
What universe are these idjitts from?
It took 3 women to write this story.
At first I thought it was another big stumble on the Trump campaign. However, I think it was brilliant. Here is why:
People are going to question, why was the Red hexagon being used? It is a symbol of Israel. Trump couldn't make that mistake. Maybe there is a hidden message here. What does the hexagon symbol really represent?
We should know that the six pointed star (the hexagram) is used in many places throughout history. Today we see it used on police badges and, of course, the Star of David on the Israeli flag. But, there are other uses not so good. The hexagram is the star of the god Saturn, or Chronos, to whom human sacrifice was made, and it is that same star the Egyptians used for the idol Remphan. Many see Hillary's support of abortion as a support for human sacrifice. The hexagram used in the graphic could have that subliminal message in reference to Hillary.
The hexagram may very well be the Seal of Solomon. Solomon took this symbol upon himself when he went into idolatry, and it became known as the 'Seal of Solomon' in Arabic magic and witchcraft. Hillary is often associated with the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz. The hexagram certainly drives that image home.
Saturn in astrology is the ruler of Capricorn and Saturn is associated with restriction and limitation. That would be a good association for a Clinton Administration. Cronus was one of the Titans, and the father of Zeus. Cronus ate his children to prevent himself from being dethroned as the King of the Gods. So too will a Clinton Administration continue to have regulations that hinder our economy and policies that will eat our own for the sake of foreign interests.
Hitler used the hexagram as a badge of shame, forcing all Jews to wear it during the Nazi regime. Today, Hilary should wear it as a badge of shame.
The star was condemned by the God of Israel in Amos 5:26:
"But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, The star of your god, which ye made to yourselves."
The Hexagram is 666.
The hexagram, or six pointed star, certainly has three sixes. It contains a six, within a six, within a six: 666. (Count the sides of each triangle facing the clockwise direction, the sides facing the counter-clockwise direction, and the third six - the sides of the inner hexagon). Many think of der Hildebeast as the beast who will force all to wear the mark, 666:
And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth THE MARK OF HIS NAME. (Revelation 14:11).
The Star of David is two triangles. How is a six-pointed star (used by the Sixth Army) magically turned into a Star of David?
Libs on CNN tonight were laughing at Trump for trying to bring back to life this dead Jewish cross story that even the Dems have moved on from while ignoring the gift that the Clintons and Justice Dept. were handing him today.
Trump is going to lose if he doesn’t grow some balls and stops taking these silly diversions personally. Comey, Loretta Lynch, the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation are the current soft spots that Trump should be exploiting.
Maybe the 6th Army is all Jewish?☺
Defiant? That DJT *speech* was so boring...had to walk away and fold laundry.
He better use prepared remarks. The rambling..........
Where is the outrage for this Disney book? Is this the 'Star of David' also?

So much B. S.
So little time...
Lots of folks want to be victims. Some are offend by most anything. It’s become comically absurd.
Crazy,
The article isn’t intended for you. It is for people who wouldn’t so t through a speech by Donald Trump because they have drunk the kool-aid, and who rely on the news media, and especially the New York Times, to sift through the news and analyze it for them. Unfortunately, the reality of what he said, and even the reality of who he is, doesn’t matter nearly as my as what they publish. The reality doesn’t even exist in the annals of history. It’s what is published in the news that forms people’s views.
What a hit piece
As if the readership of the NYT is going to vote for trump
At least ithe aftermath if all this will cut down on liberal supplicants asking trump, for money and use of his properties for their charities
Good catch
Now we can all show our antisemitism by flying this flag:
I agree. He should have left it up as is. Never understood how a star could be interpreted as anti-semitic. If people see it as a star of David - so what?
Some people lead very deficient lives.
They are unhappy and look for something to give their life meaning.
Conservatives give their life meaning.
You almost wonder what they would do, if given their entire way. They would never be happy.
Things have gone their way significantly. Are they more happy? No, they go even further into nut-job territory.
It’s actually and interesting case study.
It’s also terrible for civilization.
