Berlin: A large-scale police operation is under way after reports that an active shooter was at large in Stuttgart, Germany.

There are reports of a possible hostage situation in a Stuttgart law firm.

Local media reported that a witness alerted the police when she saw a gun-wielding man breaking into a building in the eastern part of Stuttgart. The building it seems belongs to the law firm.

So far it is not clear if any shots have been fired. The area for now has been secured by the authorities.

Two train stations of Ruhbank and Olgaeck are under police scrutiny with train services suspended till further update.

Stuttgart, the sixth largest city in Germany, is the capital and largest city of the state of Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany.

Merkel’s fault! Let terrorists run loose in the country and this is what will happen.

A close family member was stationed at the U.S. Army base in Stuttgart and loved it. Prayers that our soldiers, their family and loved ones are safe.

USAG Stuttgart has approximately 23,000 community members.

To put our population in perspective, the National League of Cities data shows that over 90% of municipal governments in the U.S. have populations under 25,000. We are a large municipality.

Like large municipalities, we are service providers. However, USAG Stuttgart is responsible for providing services that civilian municipalities are not chartered to provide such as the sustainment, restoration, and modernization of all facilities within our installation borders. Unlike most municipalities, USAG Stuttgart also funds all utilities services within our footprint.

Along with these Base Operations Support services, we also provide over 240 services to community members on a daily basis.

These services range from Family and Youth programs, to Fitness centers, to housing and vehicle services, to ensuring our community's well-being, safety and shelter.

Mileage scale in the map makes one realize how small Western Europe is.

Germany would fit into Montana.
