Well, at least Socialism makes its subjects appreciate how Capitalism works.

I remember, around 1990, a Russian exchange student almost going into shock when she went in her first Walmart store.

My daughter thought it was funny as we consider such a store “common”.

Do they buy the goods with Venezuelan currency?

Hey, this deflation of oil prices ain’t all that bad. We get cheaper gas, Venezuelans resort to cannibalism, socialism provides people with another reason not to go there.

Maybe Bernie Sanders and a cadre of his supporters can go to Venezuela and show them how that socialism thing is supposed to be done.

I watched the video, looks like a lot of morbidly obese people to me.
Not doubting the shortages but they are not starving.

Gorbachev once stopped his official motorcade at a small grocery store

Totally unplanned, random location, by HIS direction

He wanted to see for himself if all the USA Supermarkets were just a setup to fool the Russians (they did that to us, so they suspected we were doing the same thing)

He was so amazed by the stocked shelves he said (privately) that if the Soviet people saw this they would be rioting.

Socialism fails every time its tried in groups bigger than a family.

At home we are 100% totally socialist. I am the only one who can work so I provide for everyone. From each (me) according to their means, to each (my children) according to their needs.

But make me add my lazy next door neighbor into the mix, the guy who is too stupid to hold a job, and I am not so keen on supporting him too. And that breaks down the socialist model after just TWO families- imagine for million's?

We should start offering to BUY oter countries and make them new states.

Could you imagine what we could do with Venezuela’s resources?

basic foods and toiletries -- rare commodities in their home country.

socialism = economic chaos + tyranny + impoverishment

Elect Hillary, and Venezuela will have a standard of living equal to the United States!

"You know, it's funny. Sometimes American journalists talk about how bad a country is when people are lining up for food. That's a good thing. In other countries, people don't line up for food. The rich get the food and the poor starve to death," Bernie Sanders.

A lady friend at work asked if a Venezuelan family could be convinced to sell a special-needs child and a smuggler paid to get her to America in return for a months’ worth of her disposable income for the family. (she lost hers to a drug-resistant pneumonia strain and the US adoption process is a cruel joke)

The grim part is they probably would, since with medicine and food both at a premium if you have any serious condition it is easily a death sentence.
