The Democrats just fell for Trump's Russian email-hack bait

Grand Theft Convention.

No, that's not a new video game. But it is what we just saw Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump do to the Democrats and Hillary Clinton, and the Democrats and Hillary Clinton are helping him do it!

During about an hour-long news conference earlier Wednesday, Trump was asked repeatedly about allegations that the Russian government is behind the hacked and leaked Democratic National Committee's emails that embarrassed the party on the eve of their national convention in Philadelphia. Trump quickly pivoted to also discussing Clinton's private email-server controversy and the 30,000-plus emails the former Secretary of State had deleted from her private server under questionable explanations and circumstances.

Advantage Trump.

Then came the money quote, or the bait, when he said: "Russia, if you're listening,I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing; I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press."

That comment was sure to grab headlines all on its own, but then the Clinton campaign incredibly took the bait and had a top policy advisor respond with this statement: "This has to be the first time that a major presidential candidate has actively encouraged a foreign power to conduct espionage against his political opponent."

Advantage Trump.

Trump is not playing by the DNC’s rules. They are on their heels and don’t know which direction his next jab is coming from.

I dont think ANY foreign Govt had anything to do with this..I think the hack came from within, that DNC Staffer that was murdered, Im betting he was a Bernie Sanders supporter who wanted the goods on the Clintons to come out before he was killed..maybe he knew he was going to die and wanted this out before his death

-- Even CNBC got it. --

Most of it. But what they missed is that these 30,000 missing e-mails were first claimed to be personal, no state security issue at all.

Trump swipes the weekend news cycle and it's only Wednesday.
Wasn't there some kind of DNC meeting in Pennsylvania or something?

Cooler heads might prevail at the DNC, but I doubt it. Snowflake-in-chief is speaking tonight.

I’m pretty sure you are correct. It makes the most sense and the timing well, that
kind of gives it away.

The Clinton campaigns narrative was also very predictable.

And the other RICO press members as well are playing with fire having turned their accusatory fingers to Russia because if they have them and are released by a pissed off Putin Hellary will likely have hell to pay given her track record for BS.

“This has to be the first time that a major presidential candidate has actively encouraged a foreign power to conduct espionage against his political opponent.”

No, that would be teddy the swimmer kennedy who conspired with the Soviet KGB to try to steal the election from Reagan.

How soon they forget.

If Trump wanted to get the Russians to spy on Hillary he wouldn't do it at a press conference.

He'd send an e-mail, ... to Hillary.

LOL! Nice!

Dana Perino from the 5 on fox fell for it too.

I just shake my head how she can be so naive after
being a press secretary.

Trump is a master at word dropping and repetition. He is playing a game that is at a level far above what most people give him credit for.

I once worked for a guy who used tactics similar to Trump. It took me awhile to appreciate how effective he was. People were terrified of him; even those above him. lol

Just insisting that people be consistent and not letting them get away with B.S. has a whole lot to do with it.

Someone made another good point on another thread.....

since they were on a private email serve..not a goverment server
..the hack would not constitute a foreign government spying u.s. government or hacking into a u.s. government system

at best they hacked into a private system something our own government does to you all the time and that’s US government on US citizen

this would just be foreign government on private US citizen email hack

Krauthammer gets it - he just let out that the 30,000 emails were sold as just private emails, yoga lessons, etc. Trump set a trap, and Hillary fell right into it. They admitted the deleted emails are State Department business, and may include classified material.

*************

She fancies herself as a polished, seasoned press secretary but her views on some things suggest at times that she lives in a fantasy land. She often evidences various combinations of naivete and gullibility. But she was a good soldier for GWB, no intellectual heavyweight either.
