Yes, it’s too bad the undisciplined Trump took up Stephanopoulos’ invitation to talk about this guy, instead of about Hillary. Trump has to change or Trump will lose.
Trump will be proved 100% correct. When you stand up at a political convention and criticize a candidate (with lies) you have no right to protection from a response. Trump did not slander anybody; he defended himself. The mother stood there showing support. Not to grief stricken for that.

There is no automatic right to respect for “Gold Star families”. My Dad died in Vietnam. Does that mean Hillary needs to kiss my butt? My two oldest kids served, as did I. My SIL is on 90% disability after two tours in Iraq, and the husbands of both my nieces served. So - does being SHOT AT entitle ME to more “respect” than Mr Khan? Or less?
In terms of policy, how does any of it matter, other than I have seen Islam in Afghanistan, and KNOW Mr Khan is full of dog dung? How about we ship the buttwipe back?

Yes, because idiot Trump walked into Stephanopoulos’ trap, and decided he had to respond to Khan’s “sacrifice” jab. A smart politician would have answered, “I honor this man’s sacrifice and grief. Now let’s talk about the mother who was at the GOP convention who is also grieved because Hillary didn’t defend her son in Benghazi.” Trump has to always always always talk about Hillary, and not let the Stephanopouloses of the world get him diverted. But I’m really not sure Trump has the intelligence or self-discipline to do that.
