MEMBERS of the public caught up in a terror attack in the UK should run as far away as possible rather than immediately take cover and hide, a top police officer has said.
Britons were warned yesterday that it was a matter of "when, not if" a terror attack will happen on British soil.
And Scotland Yard Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said those caught up in an attack should only hide once they had escaped as far away from the attackers as they could.
He said: "Let's be really clear - run as far away as possible and when you can't run any further, hide, and then tell.
"Call the police because we've got the people, the resources, the firearms to deal with it. It's very straightforward."
Mr Rowley, who leads the Met Police's anti-terror operation, said the advice was based on analysis of terror attacks around the world.
Recent weeks have seen a spike in the number of attacks in Western cities, including the shooting at a nightclub in Orlando and the use of a truck to murder 84 people on the promenade in Nice.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, he added: "It may seem blindingly obvious, but some people don't run, they will duck down where they are, do all sorts of different things in the panic."

I’m convinced the only way to stop these types of terror attacks with a chance of survival it to rush the bad guys with the greatest numbers possible. They might take a couple down but any other way they will take a whole bunch down. It’s your best option.

As a former Marine that enlisted in the Army afterward, I was on a training mission where we were asked what we would do if we came under fire. My other squad members replied with “take cover” and “fall back.” I was the only one to say “Shoot back!”
Or they could shoot and kill the bad guys...oops.
What about pointed sticks?
For a moment, I thought this was from the French Government, not the British. Had to double check that.
With whatever you can find to arm yourself with, preferably something that starts with at least a “.40” and ends with “caliber.”

Sure, if you’ve got one. If not, use a chair, a stick or just your hands but rush them at once. It’s probably the only chance you have. But I’ll generally have a 9mm or .38 at the ready.
How about nuke them off the planet?

The authorities want the public to be prepared for the arrival of their new masters, and not to resist too much. Bow down in submission to your replacements.
