This transparent bias is a national phenomenon, infecting both print and television media to such an extent that it has become almost impossible to separate coverage of the Trump campaign from attempts to tear it down. The media has long been accused of having a liberal slant, but in this cycle journalists seem to have cast themselves as defenders of the republic against what they see as a major threat, and in playing this role they’ve lost the ability to assess events rationally.

Yawn... the MSM hasn’t changed. If it weren’t for the contrast of Trump’s candor, it would be just another ordinary news cycle of yammering prevaricators.
The MSM is the Country’s greatest threat.
There are no journalists. The once-real journalists were driven out by democrat pressure. Pseudo-journalists have taken over supported financially by Soros through his front companies..
What’s also interesting is that, aside from some small lip service, Trump appears to have no real connection with Putin at all. Yet as Raimondo points out, the media seems to portray Trump as some sort of Russian shill. The horrible irony of that is that Hillary has many, many real ties to Putin and other Russian businesses. Just today the Investors Business Daily has a story revealing Hillary’s campaign chief John Podesta sat on the board of a Russian financed energy firm. The story went on to point out that Hillary, Bill, or her fund accepted money from 17 US companies that she, as Sec of State, arranged to contribute to what her allies call the “Russian Silicon Valley”, Skolkovo, but which the FBI believes is really a Russian front designed “to gain access to classified, sensitive, and emerging technology” from the companies she urged to participate. Given the evidence, who is more likely to be the Russian shill?
We are seeing the tactic “always be on the offensive” playing out, with wide media support. The DNC and Hillary campaign have effectively stolen the Russian narrative, which should be pointed directly at Hillary, and somehow turned it against Trump. To be sure, Trump allowed them to take this advantage by biting on the Khan family bait instead of firing back on Hillary’s ties to Putin, the 1100 yet to be named foreign donors to her ‘charity’, the possibility that the DNC hack was really a false-flag operation designed to create a false narrative (which is where he could also tie in attacks on the media for running with the narrative unverified), and other attacks along the “crooked Hillary” theme. He manipulated the media very well during the GOP primaries, where the 90% Democrat media had no real biases to display - they would attack whomever won and whitewash Hillary no matter what. In the General election he has to overcome all that bias and the only way is to keep them on their heels day after day.
Hillary is owned by Russia and has been for some time. She qualifies as a foreign agent as does the prime-rapist, Bill. The Russians have owned him since his student days when he went to Russia as a grad student and met with them secretly against America.

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

Good analysis...but The MSM is over playing their hand.
Their bias is so bad that anyone who is not a diehard Hellary fan sees through it and so it works against Hellary.
They will also get worse, as that is all they have and soon become a laughing stock.
Brexit was like that, people began to laugh at the MSM bias and the scare tactics...

I wasn’t politically aware during the Reagan years—too young with tunnel vision then. Based on what I have read about those days, the press was against Reagan.

Yes the MSM was just as bad with Reagan, as was the GOPe. One might think the Brown Shirt Media would learn. Their numbers are the lowest of any group. Lower than Congress. With all their pearl clutching they can’t understand why Trump can’t be damaged. It was the same with Reagan to the point the MSM named him Teflon.
