Obama Administration Seeks To Limit Gunsmiths In The US
The Daily Caller ^ | 8/12/16 | Kerry Picket

Gunsmiths around the country say they were blindsided by President Obama’s latest executive order that would make their trade qualify as manufacturing and therefore eligible for all the mandated regulations and fees that go along with that classification.

“When you have expanded the definition of manufacturing to include enhancements and the function of the weapon, you are basically opening the door to everything you do would make you a manufacturer,” Iowa gunsmith Mike Ware told The Daily Caller.

The president’s executive order, which Obama signed on July 22 — around the beginning of the Democratic National Convention — conveys to the State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), which is primarily in charge of managing the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and establishing its rules, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

DDTC now names commercial gunsmiths as “manufacturers” for relatively simple tasks as threading a barrel or duplicating a small custom part for an older firearm.

This would mean that auto repair shops would be considered manufacturers too and should be subject to the same regulations, otherwise this is a bill of attainder and invalid on its face.

They are making it so that it is hard to run a legitimate (in the eyes of fed gov) gun smithing/selling biz, so that they drive it underground and then can close down people there and jail them in technicalities...

Reminds me of how they got Randy Weaver...

THIS IS TYRANNY! PURE AND EVIL, TYRANNY....

Up until Randy Weaver, I had full faith and trust in the US government. I have not trusted it since.

I did hear about this. This is how they will get rid of the second amendment. Through choking off the supply of non managed parts. Ammo is next.

Unless the customer is from out of state this is not “interstate trade” and should be completely exempt from any federal regulations. It is time to role back FDR’s expansion of the role of the federal government.

Taking advantage of the lack of 2nd Amendment protection for the right to make or repair arms, just to keep and bear them.

Yep. As Ayn Rand points out in Atlas Shrugged, these laws aren’t designed to control crime. They are designed to make everyday life into a criminal act that can be acted upon by the government whenever they want to.

You would think so, but the drug war whores gave us Raich, which voided that concept.

In Japan, tatoos are becoming popular among the younger generation. The govt doesn’t approve.

In response to this the govt is now requiring that all tatoo artists have medical degrees.

Seems to be a common thread among nwo nations. Attack the small business owner.
