A Saudi woman is suing the city of Chicago and six Chicago police officers for tackling her on the stairs of a subway station, stripping her of her headscarf and violating her civil rights on the Fourth of July last year.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim advocacy group, on Thursday announced the federal civil rights lawsuit on behalf of Chicago resident Itimad Al-Matar, a 32-year-old Saudi student.
Al Matar, who covers her full body, head and face in the conservative Saudi style of dress, was on her way home on July 4, 2015, and was running up the stairs to catch a train, when a group of police officers ran up behind her, “grabbed [her] and threw her down upon the stair landing,” according to the lawsuit.

Probably nobody is wearing a pure halo in this story, but for what it is worth a judge dismissed all the police accusations.
It doesn’t matter to CAIR that only 1 out of every 100 allegedly bloody shirts are bloody, though.
I find it a bit odd that commenters are all about meta-issues, not about the law of the situation.
I’m gonna cry. All these sad stories about persecuted muslims. I wouldn’t blame them if they all up and left and went back to their former cesspools.

No doubt in my mind she’ll get a settlement. So will the muslim flight attendant for JetBlue. It’s the American way.
More so, it’s the American law — there is no discrimination against the status of Islam-as-religion as long as SHE isn’t personally suicide-bombing anybody.

I am no fan of Moslems, but I’m not sure her walking up the stairs warranted this apprehension. Was there something else that prompted it, besides July 4?

There might be a rock-and-a-hard-place situation. Some word may have gotten to Chicago that a suicide bomber was likely to try something funny that day.
But they apparently just can’t come right out and SAY that, and explain “dear world, we were alerted for someone like her and regret the mistake.” As soon as lawsuit is on the table, we’re all verklempt or something. Maybe we’re fearing the lawyers too much.

The article never said why they grabbed her. Wonder why six officers just randomly “attacked” some hijabber wearing “innocent” “dark skinned, hmmm, how did they know she was dark skinned?
If this was Saudi Arabia or if the cops had been Muzzies she would have been given a good beating and sent on her way and would have not said a thing.
