A 42-year-old city man was fatally shot Saturday night, marking the third shooting death in two days.
Akbar J. Scott was shot around 9:45 p.m. on the 600 block of Irvine Turner Boulevard near the city's Upper Clinton Hill neighborhood, acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced in a statement.

I paraphrase for copyright safety:
A battle broke out between competing activists on the front porch of City Hall during what had been billed as a demonstration against violent behavior in the Brick City.Law enforcement was called to the location after a coterie of attendees began engaging in a passionate discussion on the subject of escalating kinetic lawlessness and attempts by the City's "government" to diminish it. The kinetic lawlessness.
Their attempts to curb the violence, is what I'm trying to say.
(break) As the coterie spoke to journalists, it would appear, a group of Baraka enthusiasts which included activated individual Donna Jackson, and one Tyrone "Street Counselor" Barnes, began making public pronouncements with a high degree of acoustic emphasis from their strategic position at bottom step of the City Hall front porch.
They need to start with a reasonable goal for the Newark ferals: 5 minutes of peace.
That is what we need, more awareness. So, who is oblivious?

I once witnessed a “ program” where Newark utes
were payed to distribute thousands of fliers on Broad street around Military Park. The fliers simply said “ HELP KEEP NEWARK CLEAN”...with of course the names of all the Assemblymen Couselmen,Officials,..blah,blah....free t-shirts given to the Ute’s.....WELL,After the music,speeches, and handouts...20% of the fliers were in the trees, another 10% had blown down Broad St two blocks, 25% had gone directly into wire trash cans with no lids....any parked car within two blocks of the park had 3 or 4 stuffed under the wipers( you know where they would wind up)....a complete disaster. Oh,the street dept got OT to clean up for days.
Was Newark Corey Booker’s city? If so, no wonder he ran for the Senate. Anything to get out of town for a while.
Mayor Baraka. Comes from a family with a long line of extremist views and little civic accomplishments. Good qualifications to be a mayor in New Jersey.
Well, if the Stupids keep electing people like this, they are going to get what they have now and more of it in the future.

Yeah, Booker was Mayor of Newark before he escaped to the US Senate.... he was supposed to be the savior of Newark but nothing seems to have changed there.
Zuckerberg (Facebook) sank $100 million into some public education project in Newark, at the urging of Booker, but it was one of those feel good PR efforts and the money was pissed away. I don’t know that Booker actually accomplished anything.
Looks like the money was a donation to the Democratic Party (funneled through the teachers’ unions).
