College Campus Lunacy

As the fall semester begins, parents, students, taxpayers and donors should be made aware of official college practices that should disgust us all.

Hampshire College will offer some of its students what the school euphemistically calls "identity-based housing." That's segregated housing for students who -- because of their race, culture, gender or sexual orientation -- have "historically experienced oppression." I'd bet the rent money that Hampshire College will not offer Jewish, Irish, Polish, Chinese or Catholic students segregated housing. Because there is no group of people who have not faced oppression, Hampshire College is guilty of religious and ethnic discrimination in its housing segregation policy.

University of Connecticut administrators think that more black men will graduate if they spend more time together. According to Campus Reform, they are building a new residence hall to facilitate just that. Dr. Erik Hines, the faculty director for the program, said that the learning community "is a space for African-American men to ... come together and validate their experiences that they may have on campus. ... It's also a space where they can have conversation and also talk with individuals who come from the same background who share the same experience." By the way, Hampshire College and the University of Connecticut are not alone in promoting racially segregated student housing.

Then there's an effort for racial segregation in classes. Moraine Valley Community College attempted it in a class titled "College: Changes, Challenges, Choices." It mandated that some class sections be "limited to African-American students." The college defended racially segregated classes by saying that they make students "feel comfortable." After facing massive national notoriety, the college just recently abandoned its racial segregation agenda.

Suppose a student at Ripon College enrolls in a chemistry, math or economics class. What do you think ought to be the subject matter? Zachariah Messitte, Ripon's president, who is also a professor in the politics and government department, has encouraged fellow professors to disparage Donald Trump, arguing that it's "fine" for professors to "acknowledge Trump's narrow-minded rhetoric" in class, suggesting that Trump's "bigotry" is a valid topic for most any course.

For professors to use their classes to proselytize students -- and for a college president to urge it -- is gross academic dishonesty. I've been a college professor for nearly a half-century. I challenge anyone to find a student who can say that anything other than microeconomic theory, with a bit of physics and biology thrown in now and then for good measure, was discussed in my class.

Adding to campus lunacy are classes such as "Lady Gaga and the Sociology of the Fame" at the University of South Carolina. Cornell University's physical education department offers a class titled "Recreational Tree Climbing." At Georgia State University, the English department offers a course called "Kayne vs. Everybody." At Tufts University's Experimental College, one can take a class called "Demystifying the Hipster." Skidmore College's sociology department offers "The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender and Media." Frostburg State University's physics department offers "The Science of Harry Potter," where it examines some of the tale's magic. Georgetown University offers "Philosophy and Star Trek," arguing that "Star Trek is very philosophical" and adding, "What better way, then, to learn philosophy, than to watch Star Trek, read philosophy, and hash it all out in class?"

That these and other nonsense classes exist may reflect several things. There is the notion of shared educational governance, wherein presidents and boards of trustees have little say-so about what passes for college education. The faculty runs the show. Students may be academic cripples and require such nonsense. Those are the most optimistic assessments. Or such academic nonsense may indeed reflect that presidents, academic administrators, faculty members and students actually believe that such classes have academic merit.

College administrators like to keep campus barbarism under wraps. One of the best means to throttle their hideous agenda is for students to use their electronic devices to expose it to public scrutiny.

This is what happens when hippies never leave the sheltered bosom of the universities. That this goes on in private universities does not matter. That this goes on in taxpayer-funded state universities should be outlawed. It is rank discrimination against Whites and Christians and should absolutely not be tolerated. Conservative parents and taxpayers in general should not stand for it, and they certainly should not expect their children to be attacked for who they are when they enroll in a public university.
As an aside, today is the first day that state university students in TX can open carry. The Democrat media and the aging hippies on staff at UT-Austin have been hyperventilating over this issue since it was ruled constitutional. You will not hear that any classroom has been shot up by a crazed White Christian with a gun today. Bank on that.

Will they be “seperate, but equal”?

I think they have found a way to justify their own racism!

It’s not segregated housing, its a BENEFIT!

Colleges began as places where students could expand their minds and be exposed to new ideas and experiences.

Now they are becoming places where students are cloistered and protected from new ideas and experiences, their sense of victim group identity is groomed and cultivated fostering hate, resentment and paranoia.

Every time I read one of these articles about stupid academics, I thank God for my children’s pursuits.

My daughters both attended Community College and had overall decent experience with some but not too much idiotic indoctrination. One is just beginning to finish her degree at an online school.

My son majors in Aerospace Engineering at a very small, low cost private university that is interested solely in academics and not social justice. He has white and black roommates and they are all friends. One of the black guys sent an email to all of his “lighter pigmented friends” the other day.

My youngest is still in high school and will probably end up in a trade. A wise and honorable profession. He starts his first job at Chick-Fil-A this week.

Forget all this forced self-segregation and SJW nonsense. What moron would pay $600 a credit hour to discuss Miley Cyrus? These idiots are coming out of college unqualified to say “Do you want fries with that?”

But I wouldn't be surprised if the leftists start some trouble.

These days they are big on mob intimidation, spitting, etc.

Egad...I hope I am alive when the last dirty, stinking, filthy Hippie dies. It will be a great day for America.

Too bad they are passing their legacy of idiocy down to their very impressionable children.

I think what the the YAF should do is separate the cafeteria. Have black only sections, white only sections and latino only sections. Anyone who doesnt fit into any of these categories can eat in any section.

When everyone starts complaining, refer back to this new policy implemented at the school. We really need to make liberals look at their own idiocy.

There have always been crib courses. Sometimes you need an “easy A”. Years ago, the joke was “majoring in underwater basket weaving”. How they can teach some of this with a straight face cracks me up.

They’ve given up on “equal”, and have set such low standards for black students that they are often unemployable after college. They want to create comfortable experiences where everyone speaks poor English and nobody knows much of anything at all. They’re all winners!

Colleges no longer educate. They indoctrinate.

Today’s school’s do not teach. They use political correctness and mind control to create a bunch of mind-numb robots that only hear what the PC crowd wants them to hear.

They are herded into groups that claimed that they are victims. They have to have mental counseling, when they see the truth, hear words that offend them and cannot get what they want because they would have to work for it. Until we get these PC jerks out of these school systems. This will continue.

When everyone starts complaining, refer back to this new policy implemented at the school.

Or refer back to the rhetoric being spewed by La Raza, BLM and all the other usual suspects.

They seem to be saying they WANT segregation so...give it to them.

At my humble community college administration has started an student organization for the LGBT, whatever the hell they call themselves this week. Then the administration went around asking faculty/staff if they could tell the weirdo crowd that certain faculty/staff’s offices would be “safe spaces” for them.

My mother-in-law who retired this summer was asked as a faculty member to allow her office as a “safe space”. She is old school and just laughed in derision at them and walked out of the administrators office. College at this point is not a bargain and not a key to a better life and that premise is quickly dying with lower enrollment numbers.

You are, of course right. The truly sad part is that these people think that they are being helped by these so-called safe-spaces. When in fact they are a [lace of targets for the real life wacko’s who prey on them.

Until we stop coddling these people and have them face the facts of life, stupidity like this will continue.

These so-called school’s have turned the students into spineless, no moral, the government will care for you morons that can think , care or do anything for themselves.
