Californians, Get out and Sign the Gunmageddon Petitions
self | 8/30/16 | vette6387

Posted on 08/30/2016 11:00:53 AM PDT by vette6387

There are a group of petitions needing an aggregate of 360,000 signatures of registered California voters in order for them to be placed on the November Statewide Ballot as Initiatives that will 1) repeal all the recent anti-gun laws promulgated by the State Legislature and signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown and 2) To nullify a Proposition being placed on the same November Ballot by Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom adding further Second Amendment restricting laws regarding guns, gun ownership and the purchase of ammunition. If these initiatives pass this November, virtually all of the anti-gun legislation that is currrent law in California wll be repealed. It is imperative that the gun owners of California sign these petitions so that the initiatives make it onto the November ballot. The deadline for accumulating these signatures is SEPTEMBER 30th! So we have only one month to act to insure these initiatives get voted upon in November.

“Where do we get the petitions?’

SORRY! They are available for sure and shooting sports busineses and sporting goods stores. We just visited a Range in Dublin, CA yesterday and signed them all. Since they have to address each piece of legislation individually, there were, I believe six (6) separate petitions that needed signatures. They also have to be signed in your county of residence or at least the petition circulator has to be of the same county of registration as the person signing.
The place where we signed had petitions for Alameda, Contra Costa and San Joaquin Counties. I will look up the group that is hosting the petition drive and post that info as well. This is an opportunity to sent the CA Government a big effing message about guns along with the restoration of some long-abused Second Amendment Rights that CA has tried to thwart.

Did my bit yesterday at my local gun store.
I have been to several that have them.

Be sure that you sign the correct one for your county.

I will go to my local WalMart. I am always able to find and sign petitions that I like at the entrance to WalMart. I would crawl on my hands and knees over broken glass to sign these.

No. Places like Big 5, Bass Pro Shops, and Walmart are not allowing this as petitions are being monitored.

Gun stores, ranges, and gun shows all have them.

“gun show at San Francisco cow palace in sept we will be there with a table and petitions to sign.”

Be prepared to wait. There were four spots at the Costa Mesa show two weekends ago to sign them and all had lines.

I believe that your statement is false on two counts.

Firstly, a person must sign a petition which is specified for their own county only. That is because each county's petitions are submitted to the Registrar of Voters in that particular county only. The petition may be signed anywhere.

Also, I have signed as witness on petitions for almost every county in the state. I don't think the petition witness needs to be from the same county. I'm not even sure that the witness needs to be a registered voter. You should check on this.

Anyone signing a petition should double-check that the petition has their county name filled in above the signature block.

William, you are probably correct. But the important thing to note is that the petitions that you do sign are for your county of registration as a voter. If you own a second home, you can’t sign in that county unless you’re registered there. I do recall in the past seeing that the “circulator” had to be a registered voter in the county for which he’s circulating the petition, but that may have changed.
The thing that struck me is that the State is making this as difficult as they can by forcing the petitioners to have a separate petition for each law they are seeking to overturn, plus one for Newsom’s Initiative as well. I hate these mother effers that have infected this state!

The hideous situation we will face with Hillary nominating Supreme Court Justices is just too much to imagine.

At least with Trump we can imagine a Supreme Court which will find, for example, that having a pistol grip on a rifle is protected.

I'm lucky to have a wife who is patient with my spending a small fortune purchasing workarounds for these infringements.

I signed 8 petitions at my local gun store. There is a petition locator here.

Glad to know where they stand! Will avoid shopping there in the future. All of us should. Has anyone checked out Dick’s? They’ve had feet of clay in the past on guns.

No actually the petitions need to be monitored by volunteers, not store employees, and there are not enough volunteers to go around.

Too many wackos will sabotage the petition drives.

Well, at the shop where we signed, the petitions were being monitored by an employee. I can’t think of anyone who would be better than someone whose business was selling guns. Now, that may be different at a Walmart or one of the other “mass marketers.”
