Newsweek said its website was knocked offline by hackers Thursday evening after it published an article accusing one of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trumps companies of having violated the U.S. embargo against Cuba.
Editor-in-chief Jim Impoco told reporters Friday that Newsweeks website was unavailable for several hours the night before as the result of what the magazines IT chief described as a massive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack a rudimentary but potentially ravaging type of cyberattack that aims to render websites unavailable by overloading their servers with illegitimate internet traffic.
We dont know everything. Were still investigating. But it was a massive DDoS attack, and it took place in the early evening just as prominent cable news programs were discussing Kurt Eichenwalds explosive investigation into how Donald Trumps company broke the law by breaking the United States embargo against Cuba, Mr. Impoco said in a statement.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzz! The article was a hit piece, and Newsweak deserves all the grief they can get.
Hackers rule!
Yeah right, “hackers”. Because of an “explosive investigation” into one of Trump’s companies. Not trying to get free advertising or anything like that for a dying news magazine, nosiree.
The amazing thing is that anyone discovered they were off-line. Like a tree falling in the desert I guess...
If followed up by a number of protestors who have no connection to the hacker with signs passing out Stop the bias cancel my subscription handbills showed up. making noise it would emphasize the point would be more effective.
I wish i was a hacker.
And totally untrue. I posted a letter written by Donald Trump in 1999 and published in the Miami Herald explaining why he refused to do business in Cuba.
They didn’t want to admit the real reason - their reporters were downloading virus-filled porn instead of actually doing research.
Sounds like 4chan.
Pepe’s revenge.
Yep.
Musta been trump’s russian hacker comrades
All I have to say is that the cigar Billy Jeff used on Monica was from Cuba.

We're sorry Newsweek, laws don't count if you are running for president. Isn't that the precedent?
I look at this as schrodinger magazine.
Who? What? Newsweak? I thought they died years ago.
You can be just Google How to become a hacker, while the internet still works( might not be much longer though)
Newsweek is owned by International Business Times, which seems to be controlled by charismatic Korean Christian leader David Jang.
The new (2103) owners kept the same left-wing kookery in charge.
K, if you hear anything about Soross bank account being hacked dont say anything.
Pure coincidence, just like Trump’s defective microphone in Debate #1, just like the UN putting out a statement urging US exPats to vote against Trump. FYI: the current Newsweak cover? The election is Hillary’s to lose!
