The Republicans knew the repeal votes would go nowhere with Obama in the White House, but they could satisfy their base by saying they at least tried. You can argue that was ineffective, but they kept their word they'd at least try.

They did it precisely because they knew the votes would go nowhere. It was a feel-good pandering to their base without having to worry about actually coming up with a replacement.

And the Republicans could've proposed the best plan, the best legislation in the history of all legislative bodies...one that provides healthcare for everyone, with minimal costs, and Obama would've vetoed it. Guaranteed.

In order to do that they would first have to come up with a plan.

Your comment that "none of [the Republican ideas] would work better than Obamacare..." is speculation, at best. Work better at what, providing healthcare? Allowing people to claim that they're "insured?" Driving the country more deeply into debt?

Providing healthcare would be a worthy goal. It's also impossible for the government to do that without excessive costs or industry mandates. Better not to try.

At least Republican's could claim their proposals would be less costly, and far less likely to ruin the US healthcare system.

Less costly and ineffective in making healthcare cheaper and more affordable.

I asked before, how would you fix this? What's your plan? You're big on doubt and cynicism, but not big on alternatives. Are you here to offer constructive ideas, or are you just here trolling?

And I believe that I've said before there is no fix that the government can implement that would not be inefficient and horribly expensive. Most of what I've seen from the Republican side, Trump included, would change nothing. So it would be best that the government stay out of it and accept that there are some things that can't be solved by legislation. That would be the most constructive idea that I, or anyone else, can offer.

We subsidize medical care for the poor now... we just don't get crap for what we spend.

Ceck out what it cost when a poor person goes to the emergency room for a mild case of the flu... You're talking thousands of dollars. And layers of federal bureaucracy... AND lobbyist paying off congress to pad their own ‘health care’ pockets. And massive tax write off for the hospital industry. WE PAY THROUGH THE NOSE FOR NOTHING

My system is waaaaay cheaper than what we have now AND AS A SIDE BENEFIT it delivers medical care.

And yeah WE WILL SAVE MONEY.

Oh I agree with you completely on the 2nd Amendment. Completely. 100%.

You feel democrats should more to make their party understand the value of guns? I'm impressed.

There is nothing the Republicans can do to "fix" Obamacare that is ever going to make people happy.

Any health care system that is based on third-party payments is never going to work, and it doesn't matter if the third party is an insurance company or a government agency.

The public option was ALWAYS Obama’s end game... “Obamacare” was just the middle step to get it there.. it was never intended to actually work.

I brought up TennCare and all the fraud every time I emailed the legislators. That’s precisely why we don’t need to expand Medicaid here. We taxpayers have been ripped off more than enough already.
Haslam drools every time Obamarx dangles federal dollars in his face and doesn’t bother to think about what we’ll be stuck with down the road.

I think a lot of us worry that Corker will run for governor. We certainly do NOT need that! If he does, we have to hope someone who’s conservative will run against him in the primaries. I would vote for Norris if he runs. I’ve been on his email newsletter list for a while - - on several since I’ve been emailing all of them. But for some reason, none of the dems put me on their lists. Can’t imagine why. LOL

Problem is if 2 conservatives run against corker, 1 won’t back down when loosing in the polls, we will get corker. It’s how we got halsam over conservative Ramsey the other guy was loosing badly in the polls, but wouldn’t pull out, he siphoned off enough votes from Ramsey so we ended up with halsam. I’ve seen it happen way to many times.

I have no idea what your post means.

I'd be 100% comfortable with the federal government getting out of health care completely.

That won't fix our health care system, but it will help fix our government.
