G20 warns over populist politicians touting anti-globalization

The G20 warned Friday of the risks to the global economy of populist politicians playing up anti-globalization sentiments to voters.

With the global economy already dragging, finance ministers of the group of leading economies said such populism could further hurt growth.

"This trend of deep anti-globalization populism has driven politicians to come up with their campaign slogans and try to win the votes and support. That has brought us uncertainty," said China's Finance Minister Lou Jiwei, speaking on behalf of the G20 group of economic powers after they met in Washington.

Lou identified such populism as one of the largest threats to global growth, along with geopolitical conflicts and frail banking systems.

"The uncertainty and the risks facing global economy have increased, as some major economies have entered into general elections, the fallout of Brexit is uncertain, the vulnerabilities of the financial system are rising, (and) the expectation of geopolitical tensions are growing," Lou said.

Lou did not cite any specific elections or politicians, but the comments came amid the heated US presidential battle during which Republican Donald Trump has based his campaign on a populist stance against immigration and free trade.

I listen to NPR too .... But place a blockade on most of what they say on politics.

I listen to their political stuff for comic relief. But I rarely listen. I was taking a different car to work today and it doesn’t have a thumb drive in the dash.

The American globalists are selling what doesn’t belong to them to the highest bidder. The US belongs to “We, the People” and if our elected officials don’t want to abide by this then it is our job to throw them out of office. And for those who lie, cheat and steal to stay in office, if our law enforcement authorities have neither the will or are part of the problem, then the pitchforks and torches need to come out.

“. The world hates America anyway, unless they need something, now they want to control who’s elected to keep the gravy train rolling.”.

That sums it up quite well.

Elites - horrible people - gain power from laws exempting taxes through ‘nonprofits’. Equality with elite monsters can only happen if tax breaks allowing elites to punished everyday citizens are ended.

A British company held the patent on the artillery fuse used by the Germans during WWI and made money on every shell fired on British troops. War is a big profit maker for globalist companies. This is not globalism’s first rodeo.

The globalists don't think it should be up for a vote, and for many of them it isn't. But they're depending most heavily on countries where it is, China being an obvious exception. So they're going to have to make their case in these places, or they're going to have to see that it is never up for a vote, and I don't think that's possible.

But threatening worldwide economic disaster isn't making a case, it's avoiding it. Free societies do have fissiparous tendencies, it's a historical fact, and we're not all one big happy family nor are we ever likely to be. If I were they, I'd shut my mouth and take what I could get. The ox puts up with the goad, the bear, he doesn't like it at all.

I envision how little power our States have over Federal policy, and further how little citizens have over Federal spending, anytime Global governance is brought up. Imagine MLK bringing his group to DC, when the real power lies in an unelected bureaucracy in THE Hague? How about “storming the castle” with pitchforks or AR-15’s, but first need to hop a plane and travel 8,000 miles to do it? The amount of say we would have in a World Government would be the same amount a Bowling league President in Alaska, would have over Obamas regime today, NONE.
