Sorry, you are so wrong. SNL and that Colbert show are/were considered real news for the left. People quote lines as gospel truth. Good example is the Tina fay quote saying that Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her home. Varney on Fox Business quoted that. He had to apologize to the audience for being so miss informed. How many reporters, pundits, etc. use that quote not only against Palin but at the right period. Varney was inexcusable. He should have known better. I stopped watching for about 2 weeks after that. The left audience is so stupid, they truly believe SNL is real news.
Absolute protection from media that is literally lined up to destroy us is impossible. We try to do the best job we can, but 3AM tweets aren’t helping.

Trump breaks the mold, gets in the Dems and MSM faces, fights back, and it is what won him the Primaries against 16, get that, 16 other opponents, and by the widest margin of voting Pubs ever. But you want him to just shut up and “only talk about the issues, while being attacked from all sides, including by our own RINO/GOPe Pubs.
As Trump said, I’d hate to have you in a foxhole with me. Get a backbone and fight back, rather than turning on our own side with cheap, meaningless advice. I’ll give the Dems that, they never do this. It’s just the Pubs that form the circular firing squads. If Trump goes down, he’s going down with his ship. He is taking our “slings and arrows” for us. That’s more than I can say about a lot of gutless Pubs.

By the time a couple weeks have passed, SNL will have Mr. Trump raping a rope on the studio's stage floor....and worse.
This is sinister stuff being forcefully beamed into our frontrooms. Just shutting them off is not enough of a push-back, unfortunately....unless the push-back is overwhelming and shows up in the phone responses to their nationwide ratings surveys .
But between now and the election, they don't care...and will willingly eat a drop in ratings at his time in order to torpedo Trump and Pence.
