Man says Dallas megachurch removed him as a member

A north Dallas church is sticking to its convictions after it revoked a gay man's membership, saying he no longer desired to resist sin.

In a candid facebook post last Sunday, Jason Thomas wrote about a painful anniversary one year ago about the day Watermark Community Church sent him a letter revoking his membership. Thomas said he spent years of his life in church programs that promised to help him over come his attraction to men. Many of those years was at Watermark Community Church. One program he participated in is described as a "12 step discipleship through recovery", also aimed at helping people with eating disorders, drug abuse and pornography addiction.

"I was told, very convincingly, that I can change my attractions, and that's just not the case." Thomas said.

You have to WANT to change the behavior, numbnuts. And the church was right to revoke your membership. If you flaunt your sin in church, then you shouldn't be there. You cause division and hate where it isn't wanted. The church elders are there to protect their flock from evil and you are flaunting evil behavior. Hit the road, Jack. Find a homosexual church, they are a dime a dozen.

The problem will be if he decides to sue the church, because their tax exempt status means they are a public accommodation and cannot refuse him membership.

It will happen sooner or later.

Thank goodness a mega church that actually follows the Bible...
Read First Corinthians dude where Paul told the Corinthian church to revoke membership because of illicit sexual activity.
After the guy repented and stopped the actions in 2 Corinthians he told the church that God had forgiven him and so should they .
As long as this guy wants to continue his lifestyle he should stay revoked...if he does not just find some lame stream liberal group that dont give a flip what he believes or does

They said he can attend the church anytime he wants to but cannot be a member. If a man was flaunting a mistress, he would be booted, too.

If Hillary gets in office, churches are in big trouble. Our pastor said if he is forced by law to perform homosexual “marriages”, we are all getting together and tearing the church down, brick by brick. He got a standing ovation. This is a large church.

He makes it sound like they kicked him out of the church. All the did was revoke his membership, they did not say he could not attend the Church, and the last sentence in the article says just that.

A lawsuit may very well been the goal all along from the very beginning.

Gross wickedness must be dealt with,.....

God will remove His spirit from any church that will not uphold his standards...

Many megachurches already are nothing more than an empty building.

Our pastor also said that anyone who is repented of their sinful behavior is welcome and honored. If they come in flaunting sin, they are gone.

Our church elders and pastor protect the flock from evil and keep it out. That’s what they are supposed to do. Our churches should be a safe haven from evil.

Perhaps they shouldn’t have promised to change his attraction but to help him find the strength and faith to.live chastely.

Sounds like he was involved in church sponsored recovery programs. These frequently have wolves put on sheep skins to prey on the weak. Just my observation, but he sounds like a wolf.

He said the church elders told him to break up with his boyfriend.

"I couldn't see in my heart that what I was doing by breaking up with him was right," he said.

So they expelled him a year ago and now he feels the need to talk about it?

Years ago, I knew a man who got up in front of his choir and told them he was a homo. He was kicked out then and out of the church later. It was a SBC. The last I heard, he was going to a Catholic Church.

"I couldn't see in my heart that what I was doing by breaking up with him was right," he said.

I saw that line and immediately thought of Jeremiah 17:9.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

I was wondering about that, too. He must have been emboldened by today’s deviant lifestyle acceptance with the war on Christians and wants to get his lawsuit in before Trump gets in office.

His church did not forsake him, he forsook his church.

Any good ecclesiastical lawyer can defend this church along those lines as long as the church was consistent in their defense of homosexuality.

Discover is a b##ch.

"Perhaps they shouldn’t have promised to change his attraction but to help him find the strength and faith to.live chastely."

You could do both at the same time, which the church may very well have been, in fact most likely were, doing.

Like the ‘man’ says

No sense being a (plick-arsehole-SOB-etc etc) if you can’t act like one now and then.....

The Irish etal have absolutely no problem with a ‘do-funny’ marching in the parade so long as the ‘do-funny’ doesn’t bring attention to himself rather than the parade.

‘We’ know and realize that there have been ‘do-funnys’ in the Military, Church, Politics etc etc and as long as ‘they’ stick to themselves no one really gives a ‘rats behind’.

Irish example

James Fitzpatrick, Patrick Fitzgerald etc etc (moan)....
