Donald Trumps divisive rhetoric on immigration, his call for a massive wall along the U.S.s southern border with Mexico, his attack on a Mexican-American judge and his proposal for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants have all generated widespread fervor against the Republican presidential nominee among Latino voters.
Democrats and Hispanic leaders had hoped that this vehemence will translate into a record number of Latino voters heading to the polls on Election Day in November.
And while estimates point to some 13.1 million Hispanics casting ballots next month a 17 percent jump in turnout from 2012 and an 8.7 percent increase in the Latino share of the vote that is far from the record-shattering numbers many had hoped to see.
Organizations did a lot this year, did capture more people but it doesnt appear to be a large increase, Mark Lopez, director of Hispanic research at the nonpartisan Pew Research Center, told the Washington Post. I would go so far as to say that we would have seen an uptick in voter registration even if Donald Trump were not running.
A recent study conducted by USA Today that looked at the 50 counties with the largest Hispanic population in 10 swing states, found that while voter registration has increased for the 2016 election, those numbers mirror the growth of the Latino community as a whole and dont correlate with the so-called Trump Effect that many observers had predicted.

No reporting, of course, on the Latinos who support Trump.
Planet Wishful Thinking — Again
From our good friends at Faux News.
After all, the "life" question is at the very heart and soul of the "unique idea"* upon which American liberty was formed--that rights are "Creator-endowed," thus, "inalienable."
Hillary Clinton's deeply-held "Progressive" regressive ideology turns the Founders' underlying premise for the written Constitution's protections for life upside down, on the Progressive movement's assumption that some human beings have an extra-Constitutional right to determine who lives and who dies.
The following essay quoted with permission from the Bicentennial (1987) Edition of Our Ageless Constitution discusses the uniquely American Constitutional concept for self-government by "We, the People."
Our Constitution embodied a UNIQUE IDEA. Nothing like it had ever been done before. The power of the idea was in the recognition that people's rights are granted directly by the Creator - not by the state - and that the people, then, and only then, grant rights to government. The concept is so simple, yet so very fundamental and far-reaching.
CREATOR |
People |
Government

America's founders embraced a previously unheard-of political philosophy which held that people are "...endowed BY THEIR CREATOR with certain unalienable rights...." This was the statement of guiding principle for the new nation, and, as such, had to be translated into a concrete charter for government. The Constitution of The United States of America became that charter.
Other forms of government, past and present, rely on the state as the grantor of human rights. America's founders, however, believed that a government made up of imperfect people exercising power over other people should possess limited powers. Through their Constitution, they wished to "secure the blessings of liberty" for themselves and for posterity by limiting the powers of government. Through it, they delegated to government only those rights they wanted it to have, holding to themselves all powers not delegated by the Constitution. They even provided the means for controlling those powers they had granted to government.
This was the unique American idea. Many problems we face today result from a departure from this basic concept. Gradually, other "ideas" have influenced legislation which has reversed the roles and given government greater and greater power over individuals. Early generations of Americans pledged their lives to the cause of individual freedom and limited government and warned, over and over again, that eternal vigilance would be required to preserve that freedom for posterity.

Exactly - it's a bait and switch article that tries to ignore data they don't like.
I would guess there also hasn't been an uptick in White 16 year old registrations.....
Really? Latino registration? How many Latinos are left to register? They register automatically when they renew their drivers licenses or pay their electric bills, don’t they? Don’t they register automatically when they are born in any US hospital? Or when they die, isn’t their reg passed on to someone else?
I really must catch up, I am so out of the loop on these things.
I saw a Univision ad against Donald Trump. It was nasty, not sure how effective it will be, but it pushed people to get out and vote.
Strangely, no reporting, however, on how the thousands of incriminating Wikileaks emails are impacting the Hillary campaign. /s
I have a Mexican friend whom I’ve been out of touch with for a long time. We once worked for the same guy. That guy brought and sponsored him into the country, in the company, the Mexican fellow learned about selling (from me) and learned about the fairly technical area we dealt with. Broadcast video gear, which was tediously more complex in the 80’s/90’s than today.
Since then, Mexican guy moved to Chicago where he worked for another video company, graduating to running trucks for OB outside broadcasts. Big, not the biggest, but big. Dozen cameras. Some NFL games. This is $1K/day long-day work.
Since then, Mexican guy has acquired about 5 4-plexes which he rents out; primarily to illegals whom his church brings in. Ho owns them outright. He probably has a $12K/month free cashflow.
He at once recognizes that this situation could not occur anywhere else in the world. He is so honestly grateful for the opportunity he has been “given” in this country but he has definitely worked hard and made good moves; so it’s not all “given”. He is a good family man and has 2 good kids.
But he thinks Trump would deport his tenants so he opposes Trump.
I tried to explain to him that the same law that lets him do what he does and makes it so the govt cannot take what he has achieved away from him is the same law that should make it so that there are fewer illegals around.
I’m not sure he got it. I’m not sure why I’m telling the story.
I’ve been breaking out voting intentions by demographic from all the national and battleground state polls that provide them.
Trump is making a major effort to improve the Republican position among black voters. Is this effort paying any dividends?
In 2012, Mitt Romney lost the black voter by 84 points (93 to 7). I currently have Trump losing the black vote by “only” 69 points. This seemingly small difference is enormous. Trump is on line to fetch the largest percentage of the black vote won by a Republican since the 1960s. This can make the difference in Pennsylvania, to say nothing about other battleground states.
Regarding the Latino vote, Romney lost by 44 points. I have Trump losing by only 32 points. This can make the difference in Colorado.
Trump is also doing well with the “Other” category, mostly Asian American, but also Native American.
To be sure, Trump is not being as successful as Jesse Jackson was in assembling a rainbow coalition, but for a Republican, he is doing very well.
It’s time we ordinary people stop letting the elites divide and conquer us! We need to restore the American Dream for all of us, for those who have seen it slip away. For those who thought with the civil rights movement it would become available to us. And, for those who have come here legally, to attain it.
I don’t know of even one person of Latino ancestry who isn’t a Trump supporter-including myself, my family and my neighbors-no one despises illegals/mojados and the liberals who enable and support them-with OUR tax money-than those of us who are native-born Tejanos from families who have been here for many generations...
There are Trump signs on almost every gate out here-and not a single Hillary sign to be seen-the staff of Fox News Latino is either just counting illegals on welfare in cities-or they are smoking some really dynamite s*** weed...
