I fully realize that it doesn’t apply in this case, but with our extremely corrupt government institutions, what’s to prevent a government worker or prosecutor from planting “evidence” on your computer or phone? Can we really trust our legal system as it has become increasingly politicized and this politicization will filter down to the local levels as everything becomes federalized and centralized?
It would make more sense to fine him with victim restitution, civil penalties for the victim.
