Jurors in the University of Virginia defamation trial heard former Rolling Stone reporter Sabrina Rubin Erdely’s extensive taped interviews of fake gang-rape victim “Jackie” on Friday — including an exchange in which “Jackie” displayed a tattoo she got to brand herself as a survivor.

“Did it ever occur to you that someone would get a tattoo on their body to commemorate a sexual assault that didn’t happen?” Rolling Stone defense lawyer Scott Sexton asked of the tattoo, described as a women’s symbol with a fist, a rose, and the word “unbreakable.”

Yes, I believe a woman who lied about her friend having syphilis could also lie about rape and get a “survivor” tattoo.

> Women who get tattoos abandon feminity. It’s disgusting.

Funny. I just last week heard about "Lady" Gaga having revealed that she was raped when she was 19. Later I thought how perfect for this empty suit to claim that she was card carrying VICTIM and give herself exalted status.

I think there’s money to be made in safe inks/dyes that people could use to draw tattoos on their bodies as a sort of “try before you buy” or “I want to wear one but not have one” approach to tattoos. They would be the sorts of things that eventually wear off through time and bathing. Like dying the skin the way people dye their hair.

I’m aware of stickers and transfers that amount to as much. Also actual “sleeves” you can wear and remove that is a fabric that mimics the color of various skin tones with tattoos printed on them.

Probably, such safe inks/dyes already exist. But I’ve not heard of such used as alternative to permanent tattoos.

Sure - henna tattoos, which Indian women have been using for thousands of years. They look attractive (no skulls or spiders), last about three weeks, and then you can just get a different one afterwards. I’m surprised they aren’t more popular in the US.

I showed that pic to my better half. I asked her if she would marry me if I looked like that? She freaked out.
