Eleanor Roosevelt’s ‘mistress’ died heartbroken and alone
New York Post ^ | October 22. 2016 | Brooke Hauser

They called each other “darling,” “dear one” and “heart.” They told each other “je t’aime” and “j’adore,” and wrote more than 3,000 letters to one another.

“All day I’ve thought of you . . . Oh! I want to put my arms around you, I ache to hold you close,” the normally reserved Eleanor Roosevelt wrote in March 1933 to her beloved. No, not her husband, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, but a brilliant, bourbon-drinking, cigarette-smoking Associated Press reporter named Lorena Hickok, or Hick.

Their romance is at the center of Susan Quinn’s engrossing double biography, “Eleanor and Hick: The Love Affair That Shaped a First Lady.”

While Quinn is not the first to tell the tale of Eleanor and Hick, she brings new depth to their epic, three-decade-long love story.

Quinn’s book begins in 1932, shortly before Hick began covering Eleanor Roosevelt during FDR’s presidential campaign. “THE DAME HAS ENORMOUS DIGNITY, SHE’S A PERSON,” she wired her boss, after observing Eleanor’s unease with the spotlight at that year’s Democratic convention.

Hick spent the following weeks as “Eleanor’s appendage,” Quinn writes, traveling on the campaign trail and earning her trust. (Eleanor told Hick that she “never wanted to be a president’s wife, and I don’t want it now.”)

By the time FDR was inaugurated in 1933, the two women had fallen in love. The evening before FDR delivered his famous line about having nothing to fear but “fear itself,” Eleanor read it to her girlfriend. Hick had a singular scoop — the president’s first speech — but out of loyalty to the first lady, she let it go.

Yep. Regardless of her sexual peccadillos and who of her own sex she was in bed with, she was in fully in bed ideologically and more with communists and socialists.

Despicable, reprehensible woman. Every time I see her name bandied about in a worshipful manner by liberals, I want to puke. Likewise with her husband in name only.

That might be something. The Roosevelt administration was riddled with communists, and when Roosevelt was told that Alger Hiss was a Soviet Agent, the bearer of the message was told to “Go f**k yourself”.

Well, as history shows, Alger Hiss was in it all the way for the Soviets.

This is excerpt from my book “The Dirty Locked away History of the Democrat Party” amazon Ebook.

“Eleanor Roosevelt, the president’s wife, was an obvious bisexual who slept the night before Franklin’s 1933 inauguration, not in the arms of her husband, but in a room at Washington’s Mayflower Hotel with an openly lesbian journalist.

“She carried on a rather clear and open relationship with the cigar chomping lesbian, but of course no one in the media noticed her affair. The sapphire ring on Eleanor’s finger during her husband’s inaugural ceremony was given to her by her lesbian love, Lorena Hickok, who was lovingly called “Hick” by Eleanor Roosevelt.

“Ignoring Eleanor’s voracious appetite for bisexual coitus could be construed as being polite to the First Lady “What happens behind a married couple’s bedroom…” and so on. Nevertheless, the “cover up” help the lapdog media willingly provided to their Democrat gods actually served to cover up a Soviet Communist spy ring’s penetration of the Roosevelt Administration.”

There is a famous picture of FDR being inaugurated and Eleanor standing next to him. She is not wearing a wedding ring from him but rater a ring from Hick.

Gays like to suppose that same sex friendships in history are homosexual or lesbian.

Lorena died alone and then was cremated, and her ashes sat on a funeral home storage shelf for twenty years before interment in an unmarked grave.

The wages of sin?......I don’t the she gave (or could give) a shit.

Men, even perfect strangers, were known to share a bed for the purpose of having a roof over their head and an actual bed to sleep in when traveling.

Benjamin Franklin and John Adams spent time in the same bed when traveling, and when you read about the casualness that Melville talked about Ishmael and Queequeeg sharing a bed in an inn, you can readily see it wasn’t thought of as sexual, and wasn’t uncommon.

I don’t see that, or the correspondence between Eleanor Roosevelt and her mistress being indicative of that. What I see of indicative of that is every other thing about her.

If it smells like fish, looks like fish, swims like fish, and tastes like fish, it is, with a high degree of likelihood, a fish. So it is with the disgusting Eleanor Roosevelt.

Not all. That has to be an inherent flaw in their personalities. Just like others are prone to drugs, or alcohol, or the quest for more and more money.

I don’t remember much French, but one thing I remember is “Je t’aime” or “I love you.” Me thinks the author is seriously scr*wed.

Oh, yikes! I read it as “Je aime.” (j’aime). Guess I should read more carefully, before posting.

I do NOT want to see any such thing. During the real '50s, when such things happened, it was out of sight where it would scare the horses.
