Earlier today, the D.C. City Council voted to allow physician-assisted suicide. But the debate isnt over. The Washington Post reports that the council must still hold a final vote on the bill, possibly as early as Nov. 15, and that the mayor, Muriel Bowser, must decide if shell sign or veto the bill.
The mayor should veto the bill. Physician-assisted suicide will change us all, for the worseas I explain in a Heritage Foundation report, Always Care, Never Kill: How Physician-Assisted Suicide Endangers the Weak, Corrupts Medicine, Compromises the Family, and Violates Human Dignity and Equality.
Too many people view physician-assisted suicide as a purely private matter between an autonomous adult who desires to die, and another autonomous adult who can provide medical assistance in death.

City councils now decide who lives and who dies? African-Americans - you know, who have been talked into aborting 60 percent of your children - run like hell!
I popped 60 xanax four years into a TBI, about 7 years ago.
Obviously didn’t die and I wouldn’t recommend it.
The pain was just too much in my head.
Life’s not what it was before the TBI but the pain is a LOT less and I can enjoy the little things like Chatting on here, watching movies, praying, working overnight near home.
It’s STILL HARD but I now know that only God gets to take my life and it would devastate my nephews and nieces.
When God’s ready he’ll give me a yell.
And with God, you can never rule out more healing.
For those Catholics out there, yes i went to confession.
I oppose assisted suicide, but in the case of Beltway residents I could be persuaded to make an exception.
If they limit it to Congressmen, they have a deal.
Might work well in DC.
Sounds like retroactive abortion to me.
D.C.?
This will come in handy for President Clinton when it comes time for payback.
I oppose euthanasia, especially in cases where the person doesn’t pay for the procedure up-front at least 30 days and have every opportunity to back out. This includes all the “do not resuscitate” types of euthanasia ideas that get floated around.
So what’ll start happening is that patients will call their insurance hotline asking for assistance and they’ll get some pitch like this:
CCP = Call Center Person (in Yemen)
USC = United States Citizen
DOC = Doctor on the insurance plan from an offshore call center in Yemen
CCP: We have a new benefit that can help you cut costs by $5 per month.
USC: Oh good because ObamaCare premiums have been killing me financially.
CCP: We can sign you up for this rebate program by you giving instant verbal authorization over the phone.
USC: Ok
CCP: Its the Expedited Euthanasia Program or EEP.
USC: What does “Euthanasia” mean? My parents had to pay high taxes so they could only send me to government-run monopolistic public schools and as a result I have minimal education.
CCP: I’m not sure. But if you hold I can get you on with a policy specialist to explain.
USC: No thanks. I have to get to work soon so I can earn more money. These ObamaCare premiums are killing me.
CCP: Ok do you approve getting this $5 per month discount by signing up for EEP right now?
USC: Yes
CCP: Ok you are signed up. Now you said twice that something was killing you so we have Dr. [some long name] on the call.
DOC: Hi I am Dr. [some long name]
CCP: Yes, what do you need?
DOC: You said something is killing you?
CCP: Yes, its a real pain.
DOC: Ok you are approved for a EEP procedure as soon as possible.
CCP: Congratulations on your EEP procedure approval. You need to report immediately to [address] to have the procedure done.
USC: Ok.
THE END
Cardinal Wuerl?
[crickets]
Soon the permission becomes the expectation.
Some of you freepers are so witty! Seriously. Dems always abort their own, don’t they? Why they support massive immigration.
This FReeper is one of many who are glad you are still here.
I so admire your outlook. I too have come to understand the immense value in enjoying the “little things” in life. That is not an easy lesson to learn for many of us.
What could go wrong? Other than a couple doctors showing up at Huma Abedin’s house with a form that says she wants to end it all but not to listen to her if she tries to back out.
The first step towards euthanasia and genocide. Way to go America! We’ll make Nazism work come hell or high water.
No it definitely is not an easy lesson to learn.
I took SO MUCH for granted before the incident and my priorities were ALL screwed up.
People that I thought mattered and cared didn’t matter and care and one person who I did not treat so well at times stayed with me since the first day of the injury.
I’m glad i’m still here too!! :)
I’m so sorry you resorted to that. I’m a Catholic and certainly would never judge you. That’s for your Confessor and yours alone. I hope your life has improved. Four or five years ago my husband was attacked by SJWs who brought in the NYTimes to destroy his reputation and get him out of his job - all because the drunks at his place of employment were fed up with his type of administration style. We fell quickly onto unemployment and all that means. I thought many times of throwing myself down the staircase before asking my crummy family for a loan. Luckily, we righted ourselves and went on with life. As, you see, I did. I’d have been lost without the insight and kindness of some freepers here.
Bless you and keep you!
Geez, that kind of pressure and anxiety is worse than pain!
What a horrible thing to do to a person.
I too am glad you came through it. From reading your posts and chatting, I am not surprised you made it, as you sound like a very strong woman.
I’m far from a strong woman - just a cowardly woman who fears death more than life. “Another country” as Shakespeare said. But I hate seeing anyone who suffers mentally and always want to reach out to a fellow NYer. Bless you, my dear. Life is topsy-turvy on occasion.
