The Kremlin in a statement said that President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to Mr Trump expressing "hope for joint work to restore Russian-American relations from their state of crisis".

Mr Putin called for action to address "pressing international issues" and "effective responses to challenges concerning global security" urging a "constructive dialogue between Moscow and Washington", which he said "would serve the interests of both countries"...

In her message of congratulation, Prime Minister Theresa May focused on the "special relationship" between the two countries. She said that she hoped that Mr Trump's win would mean a continuation of shared values, including "freedom, democracy and enterprise".

"We are, and will remain, strong and close partners on trade, security and defence," she said.

"I look forward to working with President-elect Donald Trump, building on these ties to ensure the security and prosperity of our nations in the years ahead..."

So far, so good. Excellent, constructive, from both May and Putin.

We’ve yet to hear from the Euro stompy-feet, though.

That should be amusing.

Well, I take that back, we have heard from the EU, in robotic bureaucratese. I want to hear from Merkel and Hollande, though. Merkel should be having a particularly tough time. Got a new nick ready for her if she goes off the rails. Berserkel.

In the grand tradition of Free Republic, I replied without reading the article. China has responded. It was respectful and restrained.

One of the most satisfying aspects of this is that it demonstrates that the news media, Hollywood, and the educational establishment don’t control the thinking of the American people.

Those are nice comments from world leaders.

We are already off to a much better start than we had with Obama and his “Trash America” tour.

I recently traveled to South Korea and Mongolia. In both countries, I saw pictures of President Bush displayed in museums—but not of Obama. That says something about how they view Obama.

I hope that President Trump is planning his international friendship and cooperation tour soon, to repair the relationships that Obama has damaged!

The EUrocrats were not. Passive aggressive, with a thinly veiled threat from the growling Pomeranians. Time to shake that house of cards. I think the UK and Russian Federation might enjoy that too.

I stayed up way too late watching the quivering lips and teary eyes of the tv news people. Oprah’s girlfriend Gayle looked particularly rough. I was shrieking out loud with laughter. Haha.

Me too. I deliberately avoided any network with an X in their name name after about 23:00 MST and bounced around from one left wing network to another. It was exquisite to watch them squirm. The shocked rationalizations of Van Jones on CNN was especially enjoyable but several of the news bimbos on MSNBC were good too.

A couple of times I hit the mute button so I could focus on their expressions and body language. Chalie Rose, David Gregory, Andrea Mitchell all looked somewhat stricken.

What they failed to report is that in d’Ottawa, PM Dustbin Turd-owe retired to his ‘safe space’ had a tantrum, and started to suck his thumb. He was eventually rushed to the d’Ottawa Civic Hospital, where his favourite muhamedan surgeon tried to re-attach the thumb. Embrace the suck, Dustbin!

But but but they hate Trump. No, they think he’s a joke. No, no, they think he’s dangerous. No they dangerously hate Trump while thinking he’s a joke.

Or maybe they see him as the president-elect and will form their opinions as things develop...like grown ups.

She said that she hoped that Mr Trump's win would mean a continuation of shared values, including "freedom, democracy and enterprise".

She's being nice. She meant "restoration", not "continuation". America has a pro-western leader again!
