Mike Pence will use political experience to help guide Donald Trump’s agenda on Capitol Hill
The Washington Times ^ | November 10, 2016 | Seth McLaughlin

The Indiana governor and former congressman took a leap of faith when he accepted Mr. Trump’s invitation to be his running mate. Now conservatives say that as the experienced Capitol Hill hand serving a president who has never held elected office before, Mr. Pence is positioned to be one of the most influential vice presidents in history.
.

.
“I think he will be there as a steady, faithful partner to Donald Trump, bring his experience from being a House member and as a governor into the room and share with him, ‘Here is how we really make work the agenda for making America great again,’ and that is why we thought it was a great pick,” he said. “He is a humble man, strong in his own faith, but also knows what he believes in, and I think that will provide a good, steady rudder for the upcoming Trump administration.”

I have no problem with this but we need to stop acting like Trump needs to be told what to do all the time now.

Trump is in charge, no dispute. Think scout or sherpa as the role for our Veep. That Capitol Hill maze is nuts for any outsider.

He is only 57 years old. In 8 years he will be 65. A good age for a president.

I think VP Mike is going to be the most positive here. Who is Donald going to pick as his cabinet. I WANT, I DEMAND a strong conservative Attorney General who simply will not take any dog poop and will FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION. Remember that piece of paper???? Follow the darn thing. It did a great job for this Republic for 200+ years. It still can if liberals are not allowed to pee on it every day in court rooms around the nation. I also want a strong, STRONG pro military guy to start rebuilding the US military. Otherwise, we are going to be in deep, DEEP trouble. We need another Reagan type RE-DO on the military.

He needs (some) help on how to do it. Let’s not get carried away with the Mike Pence as shogun meme. There is only one boss. And that’s the guy at the top of the ticket.

Absolutely. Non partisan experts say this military is in a sad state. Allowed to become such by liberal democrats with GOP acquiescence.

They make a good team. Trump will do just fine at negotiating but it will be helpful to have someone who knows the ins and outs of Congress to advise him on how political negotiations are different from business negotiations.

Trump will lead the WORLD. Pence will handle the details- small stuff- like domestic policy.

Thank God it wasn’t that idiot Kasich, if the rumors about Trump asking him first were true.

Nope, just good seeing that he is a good executive who knows how to use his best people to get a tough job done.

I agree. Had someone say to me that Reagan was an “idiot” basically had his staff really ran things. And the guy supported Reagan.

I told him that Reagan was a wise man with respect to knowing what the American people wanted and needed and most important of all had an undying love of this country. That mindset alone made him a great president.

No matter how many advisors he had, the decisions rested with him.

It will be the same with Trump. Just the fact that he wants what is best for the US is all I need right now.

You’re missing it by a mile here.

I have no problem with Pence advising Trump. This headline is B. S.

In it’s framework is the unmistakable attempt to frame Trump as some dufus that Pence will guide through it all.

Folks, we have got to beat that crap down starting right now.

This administration is going to be under constant attack to belittle Trump. We need to slam that every time it happens.

The headline should have been:

Trump will tap Pence’s experience when dealing with Congress.
