Christie replaced by Pence as leader of Trump transition

Gov. Christie has been replaced by vice president-elect Mike Pence as the chairman of Donald Trump’s White House transition team.

Christie is now a vice chairman of the team, along with former House speaker Newt Gingrich, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, former Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson, and U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, the team announced Friday.

In addition to the governor’s replacement, two Christie confidants who were on the transition team -- Rich Bagger, a former Christie chief of staff, and Bill Palatucci, a longtime adviser -- will return to the private sector. Bagger and Palatucci will still remain as advisers to the team.

The team – which also announced an executive committee that includes three of Trump’s children and his son-in-law, among others – “will build on the initial work done under the leadership of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to help build a transformative government ready to lead from day one,” Trump said in a statement.

The team didn’t disclose why Pence replaced Christie.

Chris Christie is a real asset among great assets. But where to put him?

I agree BUT..., he is going to be TOXIC and a major media target until his legal problems have subsided. His "Close Aides" were just found guilty of an offense that they SAY their boss (Christie) was well aware of....

"Let them stay. Trump can expose them and their true colors down the road."

It won't be as violent but Trump will flush'em out just as quickly.

Imagine that!

He also gave us a 2% property tax increase cap (which infuriated the teachers’ unions); for NJ he’s the best we can hope for!

I have never been enamored with Christie. I have no problem with him being sidelined.

Christie is a selfish self centered RINO 100% out for himself and under a criminal legal cloud. Just put through a repulsive gas tax increase and will leave his state a financial mess.

The Rose garden needs guarded, get him a spikey collar, a dish for water and food and a nice long length of chain.

I would think Trump will act as a CEO building out the Org Chart - instead of acting like a career politician filling seats based on favors owed.

I also do not see Trump setting the VP position as somewhat ceremonial (as Biden’s role seemed to be). Rather, I could see Trump thinking through Pence for succession planning.

Or maybe I’m just over thinking this - but sure as hell glad to be in a position to do so!

Christie got spooked after the David Duke/KKK/Jake Tapper controversy. He made himself scarce and was never much of a Trump surrogate after that. But he deserves some credit for being the first of the career politician candidates to endorse Trump.

Christie could have been THE guy to restore New Jersey Citizens Second Amendment right. NJ folks had high hopes for him.

But he chose not to. And every Citizen that lives in New Jersey that wants to exercise His or Her right to carry their sidearm is denied that basic Constitutional, civil, and HUMAN right to defend themselves wherever they are.

He is more than a disappointment.

See post 32 in this thread. You're absolutely wrong.

It's a well established fact that he is not exactly “Pro-2nd”, and he had lightened his rhetoric back when he actually thought he had a shot at the nomination.

You can spin it any way you please. He is a RINO, and his flip flopping about 2nd Amendment rights is out there for all to see.
