Mayor Bill de Blasio and President-Elect Donald Trump Talked, Will Force Themselves to Meet
New York Magazine ^ | 11/15

Mayor Bill de Blasio has vowed to protect New York City from President-elect Donald Trump, but he will, at least, sit down with the “racist con man.” De Blasio told NY1 that he and the man who once called him “the single worst mayor in the history of New York City” and “a maniac” had a “brief” conversation on Monday. “We agreed to get together,” the mayor said. “It was a respectful conversation with an acknowledgement that we have very different views.”

When asked if the two had brought up their past name-calling, de Blasio said they had not. “In a brief initial phone call my job is to be respectful and to seek a dialogue,” he explained. “In an actual sit-down, that has to be a blunter conversation.”

De Blasio didn’t say when the two would force themselves in a room together, but promised that he would stay “resolute in protecting the people of the city” by continuing to oppose potential Trump policies, such as stop-and-frisk and the deportation of peaceful citizens. “I have to let him know obviously the concerns of New Yorkers, the fear a lot of people feel.”

“And,” he added, “I have to seek clarification about how he’s going to treat his home city.” Which is hopefully the part where they discuss if New Yorkers will ever get Fifth Avenue back.

...deportation of peaceful citizens.

WTF does that mean? Nobody ever said anything about deporting citizens.

/note to DeBlowhard - illegal aliens are not "citizens"...at least, not of this country.

Well Trump did say DeBlasio is a maniac, and there is more proof.

“the single worst mayor in the history of New York City”

I’m not familiar with the entire history of Manhattan Island, but I do believe this is pretty close to the truth, nevertheless.

Interpretation: De Blazz has been forced to capitulate to Darth Trump or face destruction by the Death star.

“the single worst mayor in the history of New York City”

Even worse than Dinkins? Now that's saying something.

Trump should tell him he will treat NYC no differently than any other sanctuary city.

The rules apply to all.

Dinkins wasn’t as bad as Lindsay. He was merely incompetent and bored, while Lindsay willfully damaged NYC and helped in driving nearly a million people out (those of the productive class).

Running for office under a fake name? That sounds like a deportable offense.

No doubt that’s exactly what Trump will do in the cases of New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, and Los Angeles.

This will then shape up as a fight over the limits of federal power.

Sit back, butter up the popcorn, and watch it unfold; it won’t be resolved overnight.

Beyond the withholding of federal funds, under federal law it is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison to conceal, harbor or shield illegals (LINK) as excepted below:

Noting that I gladly voted for Trump and do not regret doing so, please consider the following about Trump meeting with de BLasio.

Knowledge about the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers is evidently so rare, even with a big-city Democratic mayor, that this Trump / de Blasio meeting is an example of a mayor not knowing that he has the 10th Amendment-protected state power to tell a constitutionally limited power POTUS the following.

Begone! Before somebody drops a house on you, too!

Glenda, the FReeper witch, has to tell Dorothy about those ruby slippers yesterday.

They have agreed to get together and talk.

Only in the mind of a Democrat is this grounds for a scandal.

Mayor, you may not like it, but you don’t set immigration policy. That policy is developed and passed into law in the Congress of the United States.

As President it is Donald Trump’s job to enforce the laws of our nation. You should be able to understand that, because you have to enforce laws every day you didn’t pass into law.

Trump is doing his job. It is your job to enforce the laws Congress has developed also.

Try to do your job, and let Trump worry about doing his job.

In this as with other laws, you both have to follow what Congress has passed into law.

What’s more, you damn well know it.
