I favor photo ID being required in order to vote, but I’m not sure it would eliminate all cheating. After all, there have been examples of cheating by ballot stuffing, duplicate voting, illegals voting (where they have photo-IDs issued by the State), curious machine “errors” that change the vote electronically, etc.

That being said, voter ID laws would eliminate a lot of the cheating.

Apparently, these fools fail to realize they’d be among the first targets in the ensuing shooting war.

“But the Democratic electors are convinced that even in defeat, their efforts would erode confidence in the Electoral College and fuel efforts to eliminate it, ending the body’s 228-year run as the only official constitutional process for electing the president.”

Yes, yes, and Hillary was going to win in a landslide... Get over yourselves. The EC is working exactly as intended... The fact you thing the US is a pure democracy and not a representative republic is due to your own ignorance... Trump didn’t win because he cheated, he won because he got more electoral votes, period.

Or in other words, he won in spite of the flagrant cheating of the DNC and Democrat operatives everywhere... Which is exactly one of the reasons the EC exists.

------------------------------------------------------------ To get a Voter ID, you would need to past all the vetting, you would need to show citizenship, there will be no way to get a fake Voter ID

The merits of the electoral college has nothing to do with having strict Voter ID laws or not. It has everything to do with the fact we are a republic, not a democracy.

Many people will be harmed if this happens.

How would these people who advocate doing away with the Electoral College feel about doing away with the Supreme Court, and having all decisions made by popular vote?

Thats a great point. This country is still Center-Right. One thing that has HELPED liberalism is the separation of powers, and the lack of pure democracy.

But the Democratic electors are convinced that even in defeat, their efforts would erode confidence in the Electoral College...

All it would do is erode confidence in Democrats that they can be trusted to honor their pledges. If these Democrats try this, it will erode the ability of future Democrats to get elected by giving Republican opponents the campaign charge that Democrats are not honest brokers and cannot be trusted with anything.

Take away the electoral college and all presidents will be elected by the east and west coasts. Flyover country would be slaves left to watch through cracks in the fence.

“Civil war will ensue.”

“They” wouldn’t be unhappy about that. Well, the ones on the street might since they’d be on the firing line, but those behind them wouldn’t. Secession, civil war, dissolution of the USA seems to be a goal and there are useful idiots all over.

I would wager that on December 19 or the following morning, more Electors will have abandoned Hillary than will have abandoned Trump. No big deal either way, as fewer than a half-dozen will do anything brazen, and maybe not even half that many.

And as in California and a couple other states If they issue the IDs or are involved with the verification of voter status then they can cheat by just issuing the ID to anyone they want.

What I also notice is that the two mentioned electors are from states that voted for Hillary (WA & CO). All of the electors in those states are supposed to vote for Hillary over Trump. It only matters if they can sway electors in states Trump won.
