Donald Trump Won’t Push for Investigations of Hillary Clinton, Aide Says

President-elect Donald Trump won’t push for prosecutors to investigate Hillary Clinton for her email practices or the operations of the Clinton Foundation, a top aide said Tuesday.

“I think when the president-elect, who’s also the head of your party, tells you before he’s even inaugurated that he doesn’t wish to pursue these charges, it sends a very strong message, tone and content” to others, Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway said on MSNBC.

Mr. Trump, during one of three debates with his Democratic rival, had said he would direct the attorney general to launch an investigation of Mrs. Clinton, whom he regularly referred to as “crooked Hillary.” He said repeatedly that she should be in jail, and his supporters often yelled “lock her up” at his rallies.

“If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation,” he said during a debate in October.

Mrs. Clinton couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

In the days after the election, he showed signs of wavering, telling The Wall Street Journal in an interview that he hadn’t decided how to proceed. “It’s not something I’ve given a lot of thought, because I want to solve health care, jobs, border control, tax reform,” he said at the time...

Exactly right. If Trump hints that Hillary is totally safe, and then if Obama goes ahead and pardons Hillary “for whatever” it makes her look SUPER BAD.

And if Obama does NOT pardon Hillary — no need to, right? — and if Trump’s AG recommends and pursues investigations, then that’s just the way it goes, eh?

I see no downside.

If they do not investigate it is his “Read My Lips” moment for many. THe same if he does not close the border, go after sanctuary Cities or deal with health care.. I expect Republicans in Congress to push for tax credits first which will be another early turnoff. He needs to deal with jobs, jobs, border, immigration, sanctuary cities then the average person will accept tax cuts for all.

Following the rule of law means he will not pursue her, the justice dept will or a special prosecutor. There is no way this will go away, too many crimes.

The President doesn’t have the power I believe. It’s the DOJ.

Hey! Many people voted for Trump BECAUSE he was going to continue investigations on the Clinton Crime Family Foundation and the E-MAIL scandal. To let her go should not be tolerated.

The underlying issue here is a bigger one, more akin to Diplomatic Immunity.

If each entering POTUS were to criminally investigate his opponent it would start an endless conga line of investigations that would resemble a banana republic and/or most of the small countries in the world.

We will never know (thank God) if she would have gone after Trump for the numerous small peccadilloes in his jacket — normal for the head of any and every other multi-billion dollar enterprise. Chances are she would not change anything underway for that very reason.

We know hiLIARy did it. But the price of winning the election is to let her slink away.

People still can’t comprehend that Trump is a master tactician. Like Rush said, we’re in a precarious situation now until Trump gets inaugurated.

Yes, he can, anytime, like Ford did for Nixon. I think it wouldn’t matter anyways. Hillary could say she is too sick to be prosecuted, if the sickness rumors were true.

“The old hag has suffered enough.”

BS> If she was prez, let’s hear you say that. She’ll make US suffer. No mercy on our liberal enemies...

Clinton Foundation, “pay for play” treason, and the enabling email operation had better be investigated.

“won’t push”

Yep - no need to push - it’s already rolling.

Hopefully it picks up speed...

Unreal that we have to show mercy on those who dont show it us. Is she was prez, we’ll all be in trouble. Freepers need to get a pair.

Failing to seek justice is not mercy.

Why should she be let off when so many others have been prosecuted for less?

Even Atticus Finch, the great Liberal literary character, knew to put down the rabid dog.

You are advocating banana republic behavior. You are advocating abandonment of rule of law for the politically powerful.

NO WAY.

He has to investigate them if he expects to restore the rule of law, and drain the swamp. He MUST demonstrate that no one is above the law, and no one is too big to jail.

Yep, I believe she would. Why? Because she would believe that the crowds would sympathize with her, as per the words in her concession speech.

Lots and lots of time and more important things on the burner now. AFTER he is sworn in, things could change dramatically.
