Donald Trump Won’t Push for Investigations of Hillary Clinton, Aide Says

President-elect Donald Trump won’t push for prosecutors to investigate Hillary Clinton for her email practices or the operations of the Clinton Foundation, a top aide said Tuesday.

“I think when the president-elect, who’s also the head of your party, tells you before he’s even inaugurated that he doesn’t wish to pursue these charges, it sends a very strong message, tone and content” to others, Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway said on MSNBC.

Mr. Trump, during one of three debates with his Democratic rival, had said he would direct the attorney general to launch an investigation of Mrs. Clinton, whom he regularly referred to as “crooked Hillary.” He said repeatedly that she should be in jail, and his supporters often yelled “lock her up” at his rallies.

“If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation,” he said during a debate in October.

Mrs. Clinton couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

In the days after the election, he showed signs of wavering, telling The Wall Street Journal in an interview that he hadn’t decided how to proceed. “It’s not something I’ve given a lot of thought, because I want to solve health care, jobs, border control, tax reform,” he said at the time...

I wonder if her health is worse than anyone knew - and Trump has been made aware of that. It would look pretty bad if he initiated prosecution only to have her assume room temperature during the process.

I think she deserves to go to jail. Her crimes are much worse than Nixon. However, I think half of the population will believe a trial will be politically motivated. I also think it will be difficult to obtain a conviction.

Offering her a pardon, with the requirement she accepts, reduces the circus atmosphere. If she doesn’t accept, prosecute her. I would definitely prosecute her aides and Lois Lerner and insist on long jail terms. This will send a message about the rule of law and allow Trump to move on to more important issues going forward.

You said:
Trump will have his DoJ investigate Clinton and they will indict Clinton as promised by Donald Trump during the campaign.

**
But your statement seems to be contradicted by the very first sentence of this article:

President-elect Donald Trump won’t push for prosecutors to investigate Hillary Clinton for her email practices or the operations of the Clinton Foundation, a top aide said Tuesday.

**
What am I missing?

> But the price of winning the election is to let her slink away.

Garbage.

Sure you are. You are advancing the idea that Clinton’s actions need not be investigated, characterizing excusing her behavior as “akin to Diplomatic Immunity” - which is nonsense. Rule of law requires that everyone - particularly the politically powerful - be equal before the law.

It is the only thing I have had hope for about Obama. A very small amount of hope I agree.

I heard Guliani talking about this a few weeks ago, and he maintained that Hitlery could be pardoned even though she has not yet been charged.

“She already is in her personal jail of sorts.”

I have only seen her with makeup on for that staged photo “walking in the woods”. But at the speech she was slated to make at some children’s event after she lost, totally makeup free and oily hair, and another the other day at a bookstore, totally makeup free and lousy hairdo. I think she’s going for the sympathy vote. I figure if she had achieved the Presidency, the first four hours of EVERY day would have been spent sitting in the makeup chair waiting for the paint to dry.

You are missing nothing.

Trump is putting the word out now that he will not prosecute Clinton as a means to give Hillary a false sense of security and then once he is President Trump, he will go after Hillary with all powers of the federal government.

It is what he promised, it is what he will do..

Um, do not freak out Freepers. Trump may not push for an investigation, but he will put in law and order types at the DOJ who will do their job.

Frankly, it would be as inappropriate for him to “push” an investigation as it was for Obama to block one. That’s not how it is supposed to work here.

How it is supposed to work is let the LEO profeesionals do their jobs without interference from the White House.

“Never let fear of failure stop you from doing the right thing.”

Prosecuting Hillary could be very messy.

She’s a dirty little snot.

She’ll act like a dirty little snot.

She thinks that’s how she’s been successful.

Let her thrash around.

She’ll just hurt herself and the Democrat Party

She’s already hurt the United States.

I want justice for Hillary.

Well, sorry as I am to think this, but I doubt Trump has been lily pure his entire life, and Hillary’s stock in trade is having the goods on everyone. Maybe Trump has to pull back on prosecuting Hillary in case she discloses stuff that would be damning to Trump??? Maybe Trump should consider that if he gives her a pass, it will only continue throughout his Presidency. Just wait until AFTER the inaugural and he’s safely elected, then see what he will do.

If she knows Trump isn’t going to go after her, she can turn down a pardon and claim, again, her I’m innocence.

Why do you hope Clinton is pardoned?

Because I want Trump spending his political capital building the wall, negotiating fair trade deals, deporting the undesirables, and fixing healthcare costs.

Aggressively trying to convict Hillary will reduce the chance of success for these other issues.

“Lock her up” was a major rallying cry. A return to rule of law was the promise which help give him a crushing victory. He has been given a mandate. Why cower?

>>You are advancing the idea that Clinton’s actions need not be investigated, characterizing excusing her behavior as “akin to Diplomatic Immunity” - which is nonsense. Rule of law requires that everyone - particularly the politically powerful - be equal before the law<<

I am describing the realpolitik of the situation.

I am excusing no one — I am saying this is where we are right now and she will get away with her crimes because if Trump goes after her then the next winning (D) POTUS of the opposing party will do the same to the (R) opponent.

I am sorry that reality is too difficult for your sensitive eyes but that is the true current state of affairs. Not the way I WANT them to be, but the reality.

Conservatives are supposed to be reality-based. If you have an objective analysis that is different than mine, fine present it.

But do not conflate my (accurate) analysis with my opinion (which is she should have already been put in jail).
