Jill Stein Requests Presidential Recount In Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The Latest on presidential recount efforts in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin (all times local):

1:45 p.m.

Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein has requested a full hand recount of Michigan’s presidential vote.

Stein requested the recount on Wednesday. She had already requested recounts in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Republican Donald Trump won all three states. He defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton in Michigan by 10,704 votes out of nearly 4.8 million ballots cast. Stein alleges that irregularities and the potential for hacking into scanning devices call into question the results.

The Michigan recount could start as early as Friday.

Trump’s victory is highly unlikely to be reversed in any of the states. But Stein says the recount will ensure the integrity of the election.

Republicans say the recount will cost taxpayers far more than the $973,000 Stein must pay when filing her recount petition.

I sure hope Trump can somehow pull together enough people to watch all that’s going on. This is a full-out election theft in progress.

“Afterwards several news agencies conducted recounts and came up with the same results.
Am I missing something here?”

Yes, the press recounts were AFTER the election was OVER.

The press (back then) did not have the agenda to STEAL the election by ANY means.

Recounting votes is NEVER about finding the “truth”, it’s about MANUFACTURING votes for your candidate by any and every way possible.

So could it be when Trump was talking about fraud, the dems and Stein took the bait and now they look foolish?

There will always be fraud but this Stein chick and Hillary take it to new levels to steal an election.

Not an answer, and I get just a little sick of everyone assuming Trump is so stupid and clueless his team isn’t on any of this. Just quit.

It was a simple question: HAS the time period to submit such a request expired and does anyone know the law?

I think the 270 threshold goes down to 247 if 46 electors don't vote. Trump will still exceed the threshold by 10%.

Dear States

Drain the leftist agitator fiscal swamp. Triple the recount costs. These fools will pay what ever you ask.

MI is a bigger state and PA bigger yet again. If it costs almost $4 mill in WI it should cost $8 mill or more in MI and $12 mill or more in PA.

So come on drain the swamp.

I assume a person grabs a bundle of ballots and throws them into the appropiate file...Then they are counted...Suppose Trump has 1000 in a pile of ballots and Clinton has 800...What’s to keep a Democrat counter from recording that Trump had 800 and Clinton had 1000? Who’s going to check the checkers??? Sounds to me the machine count would be a safer bet...

A recount is not available on demand in Michigan if I’m not mistaken. Doesn’t the SOS have to agree to it on the basis of the appearance of fraud or malfunctions?

Any other candidate can file a written objection to the recount thereby forcing a hearing on the issue.
Wonder if Trump will file?? I’d like him to but I fear at that moment the media will explode the “what’s he afraid of??” narrative.

I read that Trump’s attorneys plan to object to a hand count. Instead, they will support a machine count. That approach should blunt the criticism. There will still need to be a hearing to decide the issue.
