The true story of America’s foremost abortionist is so toxic to Hollywood that no major film distributor will go near it, claims a producer of the upcoming film about the life of convicted murderer Dr. Kermit Gosnell. In a phone call with Breitbart News on Tuesday, producer Phelim McAleer said that a niumber of major studios and distributors have rejected the film, including several major streaming services.
McAleer declined to name specific distributors, citing nondisclosure agreements.
Gosnell tells the true story of Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia abortionist who was convicted on three counts of first-degree murder in 2013. Gosnell was also convicted of involuntary manslaughter, on 21 felony counts of performing late-term abortions and on hundreds of other lesser counts, including corruption and more than 200 violations of the 24-hour informed consent law.
Gosnell is currently in post-production, but without a distributor lined up, the producers say they are planning an independent release to get around what they call Hollywood’s blatant “coverup.” McAleer said test screenings of the film have scored “off the charts” and pointed to the film’s record-breaking crowdfunding haul — $2.2 million from more than 30,000 contributors — as proof that there is an audience for the story.
“This is one of the biggest crime sprees in American history,” McAleer said. “The book and movie will ensure that the coverup is ended and the truth will be known.”

I followed the Gosnell trial closely, but I disagree with McAleer that there is an audience for the story. I’m ProLife, and so do not want to be re-exposed to those horrors.
The PP crowd will NOT go to see it - so that leaves a small audience of fence sitters?

I was listening to Dennis Prager, and he said he’s watched the movie already, and it moved him to tears.

set up a Roku channel and put it up along with some other stuff that is sitting around that is being denied distribution. This is not the only film that this has happened to.

I think you’re correct. I’m pleased that Dr. Gosnell’s house of horrors has been shut down, and that his crimes against humanity have been recorded. However no, I do not wish to spend $12.00 to sit and watch the gory vivisectioning on the big screen.
I don’t wish to pay to feel so down.
when ever a truth is spoken the left cry’s not in my safe zone and then says (((la-la-la I cant hear you”))) as they cover there ears and hide there eyes. the one thing they cant hide from there senses is the stink that they and everyone else smells from the display.
Prager says it’s not visually gory.
I feel divided to see it or not. I want to support the movie, but I don’t know if I want to pay to be made sad, sick and angry.
BUT abortion is to be celebrated by the left. Don’t they want to show the wonderful acts of their sacraments?
This might not be something that you and other like-minded prolife folks but for millinials who have no idea as to whom Gosnell is and why he is in jail or just how awful his crimes were, will go to all kinds of movies, ones that include all kinds of graphic violence.
These award winning documentary makers weren't even prolife before making this movie.
McAleer's wife was dead set against making it and fought against along with one of their partners but Phelan, who "just happened to drop into the courtroom while the trial got underway" and "was so rivited and could not leave, to return the next day and every day until the end of the trial," insisted to his wife that this was a story "that cried out to be told!" He final,y won them over but it was no easy sell, according to her.
Like I said, you may already be saturated with the images of unborn born babies to where you can no longer bear to view another one but our youth, many of whom still have tender hearts, must be exposed to the real life story of the evil that is abortion and how the evil that perpetuates it, can so strongly sear consciences and souls that a single human being can do what Kermit Gosnell did.
These film makers and others confirmed that very little of the true story of Gosnell ever made it out except for even a barely local press and, of course, many of those of us in the prolife community.
Committed prolifers will make the financial sacrifices necessary to get this movie into enough theaters around the country for many to view, Lord willing.

Correct. Director Nick Searcy is a friend but when I learned that Mc and Mc didn’t have distribution already, I knew they would have trouble.
I don’t think that’s what it is. They based it more on the trial, not on a lot of medical shots. I’m sure there is some.

Call me squeamish, but the testimony during the trial was too horrific for me to revisit, with or without images. I wish them well, I hope the film is a great success for them, but they lost this viewer simply on the content...

I think I would have viewed from the film anyway but after listening to those filmmakers, what forced them to proceed against the odds, even against their original stance of "being neutral in abortion" which she admits is a very "cowardly way to say one is really pro-abortion, not pro-choice but pro-abortion," they both came to understand what "being pro-abortion really looked like."
That’s true, it does get specific. I haven’t seen the footage or the finished film, only heard about it from the director.
