The House Minority Leader, fresh off her win this week of another term as House Democratic Leader, discusses those policies on which she will and will not work with a Trump administration on CBS's 'Face The Nation.'
DICKERSON: The Democratic party is in a moment of questioning about its identity. You were reelected to lead the Democrats in the house. What do you tell Democrats who want a new direction and what are you going to do differently?PELOSI: I dont think people want a new direction. Our values unify us and our values are about supporting Americas working families. thats one that everyone is in agreement on. What we want is a better connection of our message to working families in our country, and that clearly in the election showed that that message wasnt coming through. But we are united in terms of the security of our country, which is our first responsibility. To be smart and strong and not reckless in how we protect the American people, strong in how we protect our economy.

because Dems had such historical strong show in 2008 (starting from 2006 election), that recent setbacks had to be put into perspective.
Democrats have been doing such bang up jobs, and Pelosi thought Dems are united and refused to acknowledge they need to change their direction, only to message even more of their messages. Okie, dokie.
I agree with her - “steady as she goes Nancy - straight on towards sunset!”
Riding in a limo into the sunset used to be the realm of Mel Brooks parody. Pelosi turns parody into reality.
What we want is a better connection of our message to working families in our country, and that clearly in the election showed that that message wasnt coming through.
1) our message?
2) to working families?
3) didn’t come through?
I don’t recognize the guy in the bottom right.
But, if you include Sen. Warren (or Michelle Obama, as rumor has it that she’s being groomed right now), I think it is more of a complete picture.
I am all in favor of democrats keeping up the “stupid”
"Affordable"
"Affordable"
"Affordable"
"Affordable"
"Affordable"
"Affordable"
Nancey, you are so right. You lost control in 2010, and failed to get it back in 2012, 2014 or 2016. Taking a new direction would be a big mistake.
A red X on castro would be a nice touch.
One of the three cackling hens from CA has spoken and once again proven there is something in Northern CA which has polluted the human gene pool. It can’t be the weed.
Anyway, ‘policy is not the same as politics’, what?
From which planet does this dim-bulb hail from?
When the Democrats do finally get to replace Pelosi, I expect there to be much discussion about Term Limits.
The woman is power mad. Were I in that party hoping to gain career traction, I would feel frustrated and devalued.
Fine, some of the young ambitious ones may even switch parties as a last resort.
I think people like Pelosi and Feinstein are waging war with Father Time, who always eventually gets his way.
If the body stays, many times the mind goes, as it was with Castro.
Oh so sweet, when some House member gets to state a former speaker’s line when Obamacare is repealed. Pass it find out what is in it.
Nanzi P. “You’re not hearing us so we’ll shout louder!”
My liberal cousin was over joyed at Nanzi’s re-election.
I told her, you people just don’t listen.
Just you keep thinking that, Nancy.
Good girl Nancy. You just keep telling yourself that...
The people don’t want “A new direction”,
from the same folks who want to regulate cow farts...
“I dont recognize the guy in the bottom right.”
Frank Lautenburg?
He’s dead, but that’s never stopped the RATS before.
I want to thank the Democrats for keeping this old dingbat as their minority leader.
