Why should Abe apologize.

The war ended almost 75 years ago

Most Japanese people alive today had not even been born before the war ended.

Time to move on.

An apology is only meaningful if it is 1) sincere, and 2) made by someone with true accountability for the act or behavior resulting in the apology. Abe apologizing for Pearl Harbor is not meaningful based on the second condition. Therefore there is no reason for him to go through a charade that has no meaning. Same for Obama at Hiroshima.

Correct. Iive in Japn (Tokyo), as well as many other FReepers do, and I have never met anyone here that brings up war history and it’s perceived wrongs. And I’ve even met WW II veterans here and they just say, “yup, we had that war, didn’t we. And I’m happy to talk with you, young man, about that time. Check this little diddly out. Nice to meet you...”

Why should Abe apologize.

No Jap ever apologized for anything. I see that as a big problem. While the Germans outlawed Naziism, the Japs welcomed their human-vivisectionist doctors to run clinics back home.
