I'll take a populist like Buchanan any day of the week. If Trump gets 'weak' on immigration, will he still be a 'real' conservative?
I'd not put Trump in any category, nor would I have define him as a conservative. His past beliefs, for example on the bailouts is a prime example.

Is Hardee’s doing well nationally? Most every Hardee’s around here in Florida has been changed into a Whataburger.
If Hardee’s CEO was so great then why are so many becoming Whataburgers?

Carl’s Juniors seem to be doing okay here in Texas. Maybe Hardees sold some stores to Whataburger. That happens in that business. Worked for Hardees at two locations in Ames, Iowa when I was a teenager. We were usually pretty busy.

Hardees is a franchise operation - only 10% of CKE stores are owned by CKE. The rest belong to franchisees. There are large regional franchises that sometimes decide that they want a different franchise and switch their restaurants for various reasons. This doesn’t necessarily mean there was a problem with the brand or the franchiser.
Whataburger is also a franchise operation.
