REDONDO BEACH, CA -- Former President Bill Clinton's half-brother pleaded no contest Monday to a misdemeanor DUI charge stemming from his June 6 arrest in Redondo Beach.

Roger Clinton -- who entered the plea through his attorney -- also admitted an allegation that he refused or willfully failed to complete a chemical test.

He was ordered to serve 48 hours in jail and three years on probation, according to the Los Angeles Superior Court's Public Information Office.

Here's the update to Roger Clinton's DUI from June of this year. He originally pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to no contest. His sentence seems awfully light. At least he didn't hurt anyone.

And here’s another article about this from MyNewsLA.com. Says basically the same thing in both articles.

Doesn’t seem light at all. Seems excessive.

Most first DUI convictions don’t even have jail time.

It can’t be a first offence or else he wouldn’t get jail time or 3 years probation?

That depends on the degree of intoxication, among other factors. Jail time indicates a reasonably high degree.

This does not appear to be an Aggravated DUI and in that case, two days in jail and three years probation is not a light sentence.

However, Roger does have some issues.

He was 3x the legal limit.

That’s S-House drunk.

Start with the one who sold nuclear secrets to Red China (and raped a lady, and assaulted and harassed umpteen more).

Usually first time DUI’s even if the degree of intoxication is high(2x or higher) jail time is usually not going to happen. Usually the judge or DA will offer diversion.

Now if you hit something or someone or cause some property damage you’ll probably be charged with more than just DUI. However it also depends on the state.

It does seem light. But if it was his first offense with no one else hurt or banged in to, they generally try not to run their lives. But then again, he was severely ripped, which in Texas will up it a notch or two.

So probably light...I agree.

About 0.25? Yep, that’s wasted. He is fortunate he did not kill someone.

In California they give out two or three days depending on the degree. Also, you get a two weeks suspended jail sentence valid during probation. A DUI in California will run you from $5-10K.

Hope he gets his drinking under control. He’s down home trash, which I actually can respect. At least more than Bill and Hildabeast.

I agree, why bottle up jails with drunks? Had he killed or injured someone that’d be an entirely different dance

60 y/o juvenile delinquent. It’s the Clinton brand — lifelong grifters and crooks.

The reason is that frequently jail is the only thing that will convince an alcoholic to seek treatment.

If he gets treatment before he hurts someone else, that is good for everyone. If we wait until he kills or injures someone, then they are irreparably harmed, and punishing him will not reverse that.

Agreed.

As I understand it (from a friend with 2 DUIs), first time DUI in California is usually a $2500 fine, community service, alcohol treatment program and a mandatory 30-120 day suspended license.

Second offense is mandatory jail time (6 months to 1 year) with a $10,000 fine, 1 year license suspension, and a 1 year alcohol treatment program among other stipulations.

Roger got off with a slap on the wrist and I suspect if Hillary had won the election, he would have never been arrested to begin with.

Was the sentence handed down before or after the election?

If before, they may have been afraid of what a clintoon would do to them if she was president.

http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?sectionNum=23612.&lawCode=VEH

Drivers in California, when arrested for DUI, have an implied consent to have their blood or urine tested for BAC; failure to complete the test has penalties (typically 96 hours in jail as well as a substantial fine (well, minor, but when you add in all the lovely multipliers in California, a $2,000 fine becomes $8,000 fairly easily.)

As he refused to submit to testing, he’s automatically subject to jail time if convicted of a DUI, 48 hours is about half of the typical sentence, so yes, it is a light sentence in California.
