Typo led to Podesta email hack: report
the Hill ^ | 12/13/2016 | Joe Uchill

Posted on 12/14/2016 5:51:29 AM PST by Izzy Dunne

[...] Last March, Podesta received an email purportedly from Google saying hackers had tried to infiltrate his Gmail account. When an aide emailed the campaign’s IT staff to ask if the notice was real, Clinton campaign aide Charles Delavan replied that it was “a legitimate email" and that Podesta should “change his password immediately.”

Instead of telling the aide that the email was a threat and that a good response would be to change his password directly through Google’s website, he had inadvertently told the aide to click on the fraudulent email and give the attackers access to the account. [ ]

More fake news. The story in September was that Podesta’s password was essentially “password”.

It seems doubtful that one could accidentally change “an illegitimate email” into “a legitimate email” by a slip of the fingers, though I suppose if he’s using speech-recognition, it’s more likely.

And if post 2 is correct, that this didn’t happen and his password was password, :), that’s even more stupid!!

Sounds like the punchline to the old joke about repressed anger in a marriage:

“I meant to say, ‘Honey, please pass the rolls,’ but what came out of my mouth was ‘You fat ugly bitch, you’re ruining my life.’”

It’s like they didn’t even know what the words “phishing” or “spam” or anything like that. And they wanted to be in control of the world.

This is not a new story. We read a similar version from other sources a least a couple of months ago. For me it sounds credible. And this version like the earlier one includes ZERO connection to the Russians.

The story could be true. The Russian connection could be a complete phony as I believe it is.

Maybe. it does seem extraordinarily unlikely.

Still, why put this out now and take the heat off the big, bad Russians?

Thank you. I thought exactly that when I read the article a little while ago. B.S.

I believe it IS phony.

Assange has denied the Russians were the source.

Some UK Ambassador has claimed that he knew the guy who sent the stuff to Wikileaks and that it was a DNC insider, not Russians.

Putin won't deny it any stronger because it's fun for him to watch the U.S. squirm.

Perhaps the reason that the DNC got hacked and the RNC did not is because no one at the RNC was stupid enough to fall for a phishing email.

Get a stooge to take the blame.

Seems like the Russians were a pretty good scapegoat.

I'll bet if you polled 1000 Americans on "who hacked the DNC", you'd get 900 "Russians' answers.

ABCNNBCBS made sure of THAT.

I bet the big Senate investigation never happens.
It will only serve to illustrate how the entire DNC chain of command were a bunch of morons.
