The Republican National Committee (RNC) has named Ronna Romney McDaniel as its next chairwoman.
President-elect Donald Trump praised Romney, the chairwoman of the Michigan Republican Party, as a "highly effective leader."
"I look forward to her serving as the Party’s Chairman in 2017," Trump said in a statement Wednesday.
“Ronna has been extremely loyal to our movement and her efforts were critical to our tremendous victory in Michigan, and I know she will bring the same passion to the Republican National Committee.” Romney was the favored choice of current RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, who will leave his post to fill the role as Trump's White House chief of staff.
In a statement, Priebus credited Romney with Trump's winning Michigan. Trump was the first GOP presidential candidate to take the state since George H. W. Bush.
“Ronna has been a committed leader in our Party for years, and her leadership this cycle in helping President-elect Trump turn Michigan red for the first time since 1988 makes her an exceptional choice to serve as Deputy Chair,” Priebus said.
“Ronna is an outstanding fundraiser, and her ability to drive support for our mission of electing Republicans up and down the ballot gives me full confidence that she will be able to continue building on the RNC’s success and organizational strength as we head into important elections in 2017 and 2018.”
The RNC's 168 members will officially vote on McDaniel at their January meeting.

Ronna Romney McDaniel is the third of five children born to Ronna Romney and Scott Romney, the brother of Mitt Romney.
She attended Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Brigham Young University.
McDaniel and her husband, Patrick McDaniel, have two children. They live in Northville, Michigan

She worked hard in Michigan.
Good for her and us. This serves Trump as an Olive Branch with Mitt. Done w/o actually hiring her Uncle Mitt. That will happen later on down the line, I am convinced. We need some new faces. Give her a chance. Although she won’t be given the job till February, I believe.

I don’t care if her name is Hitler. Looks like she delivered. Results talk.

If she helped deliver my state to Trump, then she obviously isn’t in the business of “sabotage and betrayals”.
Certainly some states like Utah, Nevada, and Virginia were either unnecessary pains in the rear, or were not able to deliver, that’s for sure.

I’m starting to get a little worried that I’m not going to get a job in the new Trump Administration.
OK. So I’m an inexperienced fool.
So is John Kerry. So was Hillary Clinton.

She could be an angel descended from Heaven and this is still a very bad idea.
Millions of Americans will not give her the time of day - ever - simply because she is an aristocrat and this country has had more than enough of aristocrats in our politics.
It’s liability-, not guilt-, by-surname.
I can never trust a Romney and neither will millions if not tens of millions of others. It’s a completely unnecessary liability to carry around.
I hope she’s a perfect person and does the right thing. But I would not give longer than 10% odds that she is anything other than just another Romney.
After all, where would she be if she wasn’t a Romney? Not where she is now, that’s for sure.

Ronna Romney was a big part of how Trump won Michigan. She is terrific at managing and speaking.
