I was unfriended by a first cousin and my HS Science teacher. Both lefties.

Like I would care if I were to go back to my FB account and someone I don’t know “unfriended” me? Social Media is full of egocentrics who just have to share their daily routines/BS with the world. Why should anyone care if/when I had coffee or tea or worked out or got a burger last night. Sheesh.

Charles Krauthammer put forth the reason for this a while back: Conservatives think that Liberals are stupid, but Liberals think that Conservatives are evil (which, BTW, I find quite interesting, since Liberals tend not to believe in G-d, which means that they shouldn’t believe in Good or Evil - that’s pretty judgmental, isn’t it? - yet they can somehow find room inside of their pin-sized heads to hold those 2 contradictory beliefs).

So, why would you be a FB friend with someone evil?

I have anecdotal proof in my extended family - no one who voted for Trump (or Romney, or McStain, or Bush, etc, etc.) has unfriended anyone else. However, one of my (several) idiot Liberal (but I repeat myself) cousins announced at the time of the Republican convention that if anyone on his friend list was voting for Trump, then there “is no reason to discuss anything with me and I will unfriend you forever.”

OK, fine, do it - its not like that’s a threat or anything, it is more of a great promise like “if you vote for Trump, I’m going to buy you a brand new AR-15 with 1,000 rounds of ammo.” I’m not on FB, but my wife is - and she NEVER sends anything to him. So she stayed his “friend” just to watch...and BOY has it ever been entertaining! Election night and the next day were just beautiful. Wave upon wave of schaedenfreud swept across me, on top of just enjoyed the Hell out of all of the Libs and Leftists wailing like the overgrown babies that they are.

Unfriending someone on FB because of politics is like taking your ball home when you lose a game as a 5-year-old kid...and that pretty accurately pegs the maturity level of these people.

As did I. The day after the election many of my left leaning FB friends posted a meme about “half the country is ok with rape, racism, sexsm”, etc., etc. They were instantly gone.

I cut a couple of them off also. One who is a libertarian and the other who claimed to be a conservative. Told the both of them to never contact me in any way ever again.

The surprise is one friend who is a big time democrat who became a huge Trump supporter. That one caught me. If you would have heard what he said about Hilliary you would have dropped your jaw.

That’s because people who oppose them are hateful and intolerant.

The left hates them and will not tolerate them.

Shocking that the same people we see screaming and crying and blocking streets, threatening electors, and demanding recounts in a EC blowout, would be more likely than a conservative or republican to unfriend someone. #children

Ive always been tolerant and open to opposing views but the shrill I saw after the election prompted me to purge 15% of the people on my friends list. Some WERE what I considered close friends. Now I wont have anything to do woth them.

“I’ve had to unfriend relatives including my own son, as well as beloved nieces as well as nephews....”

Unfriend them, and they know exactly why.

I’ve only unfollowed them, still like to know what evil those relatives are up to. Now I’m not notified every time they post their hate, and they don’t know that I’ve unfollowed them.

I also did the same because some of these people were not who I thought they were. Some of them were old “friends” who wrote the most hateful things about Trump and his supporters.

I lived in two different government worlds, the US Army and then the Department of State. The Army people were respectful and good nature’d about everything but in DOS it was a liberal cesspool with no humor and they seriously hate conservatives... but hate military even more. I love that Trump is going to neuter this people who take discrimination to new lows.

Dems more likely to unfriend people due to political posts

That's not possible. Democrats are more tolerant than republicans. Just ask them. They'll tell you.

In addition to unfollowing hateful leftwinger "friends" you can really befuddle them by modifying your own posts.
Customize your posts that include all friends **EXCEPT** a list you specify. They will simply believe you are not posting often. LOL.

DUH! they can’t live with reality, they live in a delusional bubble and anyone who remotely risks pricking that bubble is purged.

I’ve unfriended a few who were CONSTANTLY sending out political, but not if it was occasional. Also unfriended some who were the “you have to agree with me or you’re evil” emotional blackmailing types.
Had fewer people at holiday get togethers, too, but if you can’t be civil with me in my home in front of my children, you’re not coming. Christmas will have more people than Thanksgiving, hoping it remains civil.
