Sharyl Attkisson: 'I'm really nervous about someone saying we'll decide the truth'
---------------
If you want to spot a forged painting, ask an art expert.
And if you want to find out what is fake news, ask perhaps the top investigative reporter in journalism.
Sharyl Attkisson spotted the fake news trend long before it became a recent catchphrase.
And she doesnt portray it, as do many in the mainstream media, as some right-wing conspiracy. In fact, Attkisson told WND she often sees the mainstream media as prime culprits when they push suspect stories.
So, what is really behind the mainstream medias war on fake news?
I think the anti-fake news movement itself is a campaign for a narrative-driven propaganda campaign that started about September, reflected Attkisson.

This “fake news” crap is another version of the fairness doctrine that the libs can’t get through congress.
Don’t buy anything the Left is selling including this phony “fake news” crap. The Left are snakes and liars. The Left are master deflectors who want to turn their chronic lies around to attack freedom with phony phrases like “fake news”.

You might like this from the article:
“Years ago, Attkisson noticed the emergence of what is now called fake news, only she called such stories by their traditional name: a smear.”
Traditionally, in the media it was called a smear.
We also call it a lie.
Today, as you point out, the lies are now called fakenews.
Still lies. The corrupt msm does what it does best - lie.
And now to cover up their lies, they want to call it fake news; but it is still lies. Previously, their lies were called smears.
This is why FAKEBOOK is going to censor news
I trust the news from "The ONION" more than social media propaganda from FakeBook, or the other social media darlings .
In 1982, as a result of reading an article in the San Jose Mercury News reporting on a Pro Life rally that we attended, we cancelled our subscription and have not received any paper for 35 years. Their report was all lies about EVERYTHING that went on at the rally.
we’ll decide the truth’

That’s the bottom line.
The Ministry of Propaganda (MSM) wants to once again have a monopoly on information.
They are using the “fake news” narrative to try to marginalize everyone who is not connected to the Ministry of Propaganda.
There _was_ a huge wave of actually fake news during the POTUS campaign. Some stuff was clearly BS clickbait from a plethora of websites we’ve never heard of before nor since. A lot of people fell for the startling headlines and forwarded links without considering the source.
Of course, the Left is using the reality of that to impugn respectable right-leaning news sources.
Let’s not completely bash the notion of “fake news” because it does exist, outright fabricated content for deception and/or clickbait.
They couldn’t get the ERA passed either but we’re living every day with exactly laws and effects the ERA would have had and caused the public to overwhelmingly reject it.
That fake news crap however swings both ways. Ever since this election no matter the story and source I’ve seen numerous knee jerk comments with an immediate fake news moniker. The reader typically making the comment doesn’t go past the title and read the content. That’s akin to closing ones eyes and saying lalala.
Translation: no different than an Obama fanatic going to their safe space if the title has anything bad with Trump in the title
We could compile a list going back a century. It would be fun and educational.
IMO (that no one really gives a rip for) there are no “Superstar” reporters, they are just people with bigger mouths than the rest.
