New United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres asked the world “to put peace first,” in New Year’s comments on Sunday, marking his first official statement as head of the organization. The former Portuguese prime minister has taken over after 10 years of leadership from his predecessor Ban Ki-moon.

“How can we help the millions of people caught up in conflict, suffering massively in wars with no end in sight?” Guterres asked. “Civilians are pounded with deadly force. Women, children and men are killed and injured, forced from their homes, dispossessed and destitute. No one wins these wars; everyone loses.” …

How do you account for the fact that the United Nations Charter follows the format of the Russian (USSR) Constitution of 1936 rather than the format of the (Covenant of the) League of Nations? Would you feel there was any significance in the fact that the general secretary for the organization which drew up the charter was Alger Hiss? …

The Naked Communist, Chapter 8
Right; an organization with communistic foundations (which demands dictatorship, the opposite of freedom) is going to be about “peace” when Lenin made it clear that such dictatorial foundations are “a state of intensified war” which truly has no end in sight. Tell us another while we are laughing sardonically at that one, Guterres.

As long as it’s anywhere on the planet, they will continue to promote war and suffering while talking peace.

The definition of “peace” has very wide interpretations. What the U.N. considers “peace”, others could interpret as war. I wouldn’t trust the U.N. definition of “pencil”, let alone “peace”. They are a group of corrupt antisemitic trash.

I don't understant the need for a "United Nations."

They have accompished nothing as an orgniation. Everything that get involved in can be (and usually is) done by other organizations (G-7 and G-20).

As long as there is Islam, there will not be peace.

They’ve accomplished much of their real goals, those being to sap the US of its strength and pave the way for, as Marx put it, “strid(ing) through the wreckage a creator”, i.e. the wreckage of the globe.

All forms of socialism have to go; the Islamic and the atheistic, never mind the pseudo-Christian and pseudo-Jewish ad nauseam.

Well, their definition of “climate change” has proven to be a doozy, never mind their definition of “Zionism” from 1975 to 1991.

Perhaps I should have quoted these paragraphs too:
After fighting for the rights of asylum seekers for a decade as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Guterres’ unanimous election has invigorated diplomats amidst waning faith in the world body’s ability to affect change. Indeed, during his swearing-in ceremony earlier in December, he acknowledged that he was taking over during a time when the world seemed to have lost faith in its leaders and institutions.

Guterres vowed to reform the way the UN operates. “It is time for the United Nations to do the same — to recognize its shortcomings and reform the way it works…The UN must be willing to change,” he said. …
That begs the question as to which direction he wants it to change. But given his past job in the UN (also his former 1999-2005 position as head of the Socialist International), and his two-sided claims to be a “friend of Israel” while not apparently shying away from “criticism” (while High Comissioner for Refugees, he was sympathetic towards the Gazan “Palestinians” during the 2014 conflict), it is not hard to figure out which direction those “reforms” are going to go.

UN definition of peace is giant crater where Isreal currently is. It would not matter if all of Israel was permanently uninhabitable by anyone much less their precious palestians (small p), as long as it is Jedenrein is all that matters.

It’d be better for 2017 to be a year without the US.
